New 03 MsP, what do i do with it...

i just bought this 03 Mazdaspeed protege. I always wanted one and now that i have i don't know what to do with it. I don't even know what the engine code is. It has an Injen intake and greddy exhaust. what next... does it have an external waste gate? What's the factory set boost at? If someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Also the engine or turbo has been cutting out or pausing at mid rpm range and then regaining the power after a couple of seconds. What could be the problem? Thanks again.

The msp's run 6.5psi stock from factory. Some are lower and some are higher. Your probably leaning out(not enough fuel) midrange, not to sure. I would go with a downpipe next by either corksport or Mental Addiction. And a boost guage.

you should post this up in the Msp performance section mang (thumb)
engine code is an FS-DE. The stock setup has and internal wastegate. wrd on the stock psi being right around 6.5psi but vary at times from vehicle to vehicle.
I think the engine pausing feeling youve been experiencing is due to the ecu tune from the factory. Which is flooding the engine with fuel thus causing the loss in power. Read up on it there are many threads about this issue.

As for whats next....id recommend engine management like a piggy-back for starters. The car has some potiential but its stock tune is a downfall.

ms problems

I have also been having this problem, but its acompanied with a severe jolt, especially when accellerating at about 60-80 mph. no idea what is causing it. i can hear the turbo stopping and then after about a second it spools up again, but there is no discharge from the blow off.

you are hitting fuel cut if it feels like the car hits a wall or something then kicks back in. It is because u are maxing out the stock MAF. This could be do to colder weather and your aftermarket intake, or you could be running enough boost pressure to max out the maf, either way if you have a check engine light dont boost it until you get it read with a obd2 scanner, then get a boost gauge then post back here with results.
