anyone with JUST lowering springs having negative camber problems? my friend had eibachs on his civic and said he had to get a camber kit, new tires, and still had problems so he sold it on ebay and got coilovers

Good question. I've heard if you do a conservative drop- (less than something crazy like 2") you'll be ok with stock camber. I dunno though, I lowered my last car (99 Tiburon) with Intrax (1.75") and I had camber problems. My tires always wore on the inside first.
I don't think anyone makes a flat-out camber adjustment kit for the P5.

I wanna lower my P5 and go with 18" but I'm dreading the horrid ride it'll produce. Heck it's pretty rough stock in comparison to my brothers 99 Protege Sedan. Probably due to the 16's and low pros.

i was thinkin about 2inches and stock (maybe smaller tires, but same rims)...

Dont do that! Why would you go with smaller tires w/ stock rims. It'll ruin your ride for NOTHING. My as well go up a size or two and go with a 40 to 35 series tire.
Other than obvious handling performance gains, lowering helps fill the stock wheelwell gap.....it's almost a MUST if you go with 17's or 18's with lo pro tires. The tire can be the same height and everything but for some reason if it's not lowered it accentuates the gap.

Here's a pick of my previous car. It's lowered 1.75" and has 17" wheels with 205 40 tires. Perfect if you ask me- for this car. The tires seemed to fit the wheelwells like a glove. :)

i certainly appreciate it, but think about it...i lower the car with springs for 200 (at the ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST PAIR I CAN FIND), and then another 500 for camber kit...s*** we could get a decent pair of coilovers for that and still have money to get my windows tinted :-)

u know i was thinkin about gettin a set of eibach springs to lower mine, but the thing is that i dont think its enough of a drop...i cant really afford to get a set of coil-overs and a camber kit, so is there a set of springs out there that will lower it like 1 1/2 inches or more? a friend of mine suggested that i cut a coil off the eibachs but i dont wanna sacrafice the integrity of the spring...if there is a set out there that offers a bigger drop than the eibachs i'd appreicate it if someone let me know. thanks

ouch, im a penny pincher cause i dont believe in paying for a brand name (normally), but i damn sure dont like the words "cut" and "springs" anywhere near the same sentance. i found a pair of springs for 199 (including shipping) that drop your p5 all around...dont ask what tire sizes and stuff will clear two inches tho, nor ask about negative camber problems :-)

hope this is some help for you

lol yeah i know i thought cutting was a dumb idea too...hmmm i guess im gonna go research these spool springs...i've never heard of em...but i guess i'll see if i can find out how much of a drop they offer...thanks for the help!

like i said, they offer 2in drop all around...do a search in these forums ive read some good reviews about the springs

np its the lowest ive found, although there is someone in my unit with a black p5 that has 1.75 in the back and 1.5 in the front, and i must say, its ******* LOW...hes only had it a few months and that mod just a month, so im wiaitng not patiently to see if he has camber problems in the near future cause i know he doesnt have bushings or a camber kit...theyre eibach, and ive already stated my opinion about buying name brand stuff

oh really? The eibach pro series kit springs are 1.4" in the front and 1.2" in the rear... as far as i've seen thats the only one offered by eibach for P5's...do u know what line the guy in u're unit has?

Couple of things, ...

1) Spoolinmp3 (owner of spool-turbo) is a regular here. Surprised he hasn't said hi yet.
2) Springs are supposed to be good. I haven't had any direct interaction with Spoolin, but if he's selling them I wouldn't hesitate to buy them. I have the Racing Beat springs myself, but I didn't want to go too low, I wanted handling over aesthetics (and I got them for my B-day)
3) If it's more aesthetics that you're looking for, what about the ground control coil overs? Only 400, and I believe it goes from stock to a 3 in drop (?)
4) Did your friend get an alignment after he installed his springs? Are you planning to?
