Need tires, and advice
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Hey guys, time for new tires... I want to go 225/45/17 (stock rims, is that even possible?) which tires can fit on stock suspension (without rubbing)... Im thinking Toyo's, Bridgestones, or Michelins PRICE DOES NOT PLAY A FACTOR but traction does, I prefer a summer tire with great wet and dry traction..thanks for the help

As long as the tires fit on the wheels, they won't rub (unless you got really high sidewalls), at least on stock wheels. If you start getting into different size wheels, that's when you have to worry about rubbing.

A 215/40/17 would be a better option,or even a 225/40/17 if you can find them.

As far as a good tire....Definately go with a Nitto NT-555R's!
Awesome tires that really hook.

Hmm...
I would think that putting a tire two sizes wider on a stock rim would make the sidewalls "pooch" out...causing more roll in the turns, thus negating any benefit you were looking for. I'd call a tire shop and ask, to make sure.

our tires are sized 215/45/17 if I'm not mistaken (stock potenzas)
A lot of people say good things about the toyos (cheap and good)
But I personally reccomend the Nitto Neogens. Awesome tire that REALLY hooks. The traction will blow you away, much better in water compared to the stock tires.

215/40/17 yokohama avs es100's are good. they last for a decent amount of time and grip fairly well. they arent the grippiest tires, but they're damn good

The Nitto NT-555's are a way better tire than the Neogens. The neogens are nitto's lower line tire, where as the 555 is one of their high end tires.I think the Neogen replaced the NT-450 if i am not mistaken...that was also a goos tire as well.

I'm putting 215/45/17 Toyo Proxy T1S's on tomorrow i'll let you know how they feel I had them on my Honda and they lasted long and worked great but this ain't no Honda! Zoom Zoom OUT!

will 225/40/17 fit? Im thinking of getting the Nitto NT555's I can get a pretty good hook up... will they fit alright?

I know of several ppl on the board that has tried 225 series tires, and experienced rubbing.. Im not sure if they were 40's or 45's though. run a search and check it out. I would LOVE some 225's, but I dont want to run the risk of rubbing. plus, I have lowered my speed, and when I tun the wheel all the way in slow turns, it already rubs the inside of the tire well, and thats with stock 215-45's

I just did the Toyo Proxy T1S 215-45-17 and they are nice very quiet on the road they handle nice so far tomorrow it's supposed to rain all day ill post how they are in the rain, the one thing im not used to yet is the way they look compared to the Bridgstones (meaning the side wall to rim apperance) gotta clean the car juice the tires up wif tire juice then ill take a pic to post! ALPINE OUT!
