I'm thinking of upgrading the car and I'm in a cross road of what car to look for. $50k is my budget.

Just test drove a E60 M5. The sound of that V-10 was...

I think I'm going to pic up one of those soon. I also like the room it has inside. One of the thing I was worried about since my MS6 is so confy.

That is gaint leap from a MS6 to a e60 M5. I deal with BMWs at work and I would actually stay away from the M5 personally. You really need to go lurk on Bimmerforums to do research on the M cars you are considering. Why not just go for a brand new e90 M3 Sedan for another 5K?

What are your plans for this vehicle? Is it replacing the MS6? Daily driver, cruiser, or track event car? Are you going to mod it? Also modding a BMW can be very expensive. Just my thoughts...

I want something that is fast from the box. The only mods I would do to a M5 is suspension, rims and mufflers. I just want a cruiser that is fun to drive. I had my shares of BMW cars before. The hard part is paying labor to fix them but I do my own work on my cars. The MS6 is a fun car but the ammount of money I would have to put into it to get it the way I want it, is a lot and I would have ended up with the same amount of money paying a $50K car with very similar performance but more reliable. I would keep using my truck as my DD or thinking buying a E30 3 series coupe for s**** and giggles.

Don't recommend me a EVO. I test drove one and for being a sedan it was crampped. Another reason why I'm not to interested on BMW 335i or M3 but I would entertain the ide of a 335i. If I get a 335 I would do intake, full exhaust and ECU and I would be a bit in M3 territory. Interior room is what is not very interesting (at least more than my old E46 sedan). I lost interest on the other car that I have listed above because when I test drove the EVO X, I became aware of the room in my MS6 and started looking at car with the same room but better performance.

I'm not sure yet what I want to do. I'm just throwing some ideads out there so I can get some one else point of view.

What about a Pontiac G8 GXP 6spd? They can be had for $35K with rebates. There are tons of performance parts that actually add power. You could mod the hell out of it and still be well under your budget. Size which is roughly the size of my 03 Altima which is not that bad. My cousin traded her 06 325i 6spd in on a 08 G8 GT because she was sick and tired of have to drive over an hour for service. Its awesome to drive and its handling is on par with a BMW. Hell auto rags call it the cheap man's M5. She has already done intake, cat back exhaust, software, and lightweight rims. Its making over 400hp. Her dad owns a 01 BMW e39 Dinan M5 that the G8 will keep right up with in the straights and corners. I would buy one if I was in the market for a V8 sedan.

There are acouple more modded BMWs in my family besided the M5. One of my cousins owns a 04 330i ZHP that has every part from Turner Motorsport bolted onto it and a AA supercharger. And his brother has a 07 335i coupe 6 speed manual with the factory sport aero package. He has performance software from TMS makes (+40hp over stock and +39lb/ft of torque over stock). That’s 367hp and 372lb ft of torque. It also has a BMW performance short shifter and knob, Borla cat back exhaust, AFe dual CAI, AA larger intercooler, AA blow off valve, and LSD. With the software, cat-back. and CAI its close to almost making 400rwhp. He is talking about doing the BMW Performance Suspension Kit with includes struts, shocks, springs, and larger swaybars, BMW Performance Steering Wheel, and Carbon Fiber Interior Trim. He has alot of money tied up into this car.

Let's just I am jealous but I do get to drive them.
