need some autocrossers opinions

looks like a pretty good deal for a Snell SA rated helmet. Just make sure you measure your mug before ordering and pick the right size for that brand, as each brand's sizing is a little different. Most web sites will have sizing charts with what the sizes (S, M, L, etc) mean for each brand

I bought my Pyrotect SA2005 (made by Bell) from soloracer.com last year. I like it very much, but I wish I could have tried on some more brands. I have a huge head, and the XL is still tight if I haven't had a recent haircut.

Anyone with glasses have any insight (pardon the pun) on my first auto-x helmet? My glasses are pretty small but I still need them to drive and want to make sure they will fit with a helmet before I drop $250. Thanks!

I'm thinking this one for auto-x and an occasional track day?

I typically wore sunglasses under my helmet during track days and autoxes. If they were a little uncomfortable, all that quickly goes unnoticed as soon as that engine revs. And I'd bet my sunglasses present more of a problem than your eye glasses.

That helmet you list is a good helmet. The SA2005 rating is a bit more than you need for autoxing and track days. An M2005 (motorcycle helmet) will do just as good and save about $100. The SA rating just says that it can be used in conjunction with a roll cage. And another good thing about a motorcycle helmet, I bet you have a couple motorcycle shops in your town that you can go try them on with your glasses to see how you like it before you buy it.

That's my advice. I have a motorcycle helmet for autoxing. I think mine is an M2000 rating. Loaner helmets at autoxes are sure to be motorcycle helmets as well- because they are cheaper than SA helmets.

same here. I wear shooting glasses (amber lenses) on my runs. I don't even notice them.

HJC makes pretty decent, Snell-rated helmets that aren't too expensive. i got an open-face (CL-5?) for $80 or so from a local yamaha dealer. i also can wear my sunglasses (or my tinted safety glasses for karting) w/ it very comfortably.

Thanks for all the info on helmets with glasses, guys. I'll go to the motorcycle shop next week and try some out.

Another vote for Racer Wholesale. For one who wears glasses, I'd suggest this:

It's SA rated and $199.00. SA helmets are allowed for track days by any sanctioning body--M's may not be. I like the chin/face protection that this design affords, while still having the 'openess' around the eyes for glasses.

That's the same one I've got! I really like it. Only problem is that you can't use it for go-karting. My next helmet is probably going to be the closed-face version of that one.
