I have a 2002 Protege ES and debating about buying the JIC cat back exhaust, AWR headers and Wagner Mid-Pipe with High Flow cat. Does anyone know if this set up will be very loud and Drone like crazy? I know this is the Mazdaspeed section but there is not really no one in the 3rd generation or performance site. Any feed back would be great.

Yea performance section is surprisingly alive most of the time.
On topic, ive not heard a n/a protege with a modified exhaust, but id expect it to make a nice sound depending on 2 things. Muffler of choice, and if you install a resonator.
Resonators kill alot of the buzzing sound, but do limit flow a bit, but on an n/a car, its not gonna hurt. Also, choose a muffler with a 2.25 inlet and 2.5-3in outlet. Something like a magnaflow sounds really great.
Most canister mufflers WILL make your car sound really horrible, especially loud one likes the Apexi N1, etc.
