One of my teammates on my paddling team has offered me 3 10" MTX subs in a bandpass box for $300. Is this a good deal or not?

There's alot of missing info here. I'd be inclined to say no, but I think alot of it would be personal taste playing a role in it. If you want alot of sound of some sort, hen this setup will work fine. But especially with a p5, you can get plenty of boom for the buck in just about any other form and sound WAY better doing it. In the end it's all up to you. if you really want 3 bandpassed 10's taking up all of your space and sounding sloppy, then it's possibly a good deal. Just check and see what model of speakers they are. (there's more than just one mtx 10")

Alright. I'll check what model they are. I'm just looking for something to bump with. I heard them in his truck and they sounded good.

doesn't mean it will sound good in your hatch though, you could possibly build 1 10" to sound better...and spend less.

Great point...with the proper box design you can surprise the hell out of people. Got Wake ran 1 10" Brahma and hit harder and louder than most of the shop sponsored cars around him with a ton of speakers in them (if I remember correctly).

Plus...if you build the right ported box with the right sub, you'll get great SQ *and* great SPL.

yeah, i pissed quite a few people off once i proved that all i had in my trunk was a single 10(cool) the best was when i'd beat a pair of 15's(birthday)

^^ You da man! GotWake designed and built mine for my Elemental 12K.44's and now they rock! ^^

I used to have 2 MTX 10's in a ported box running off a rockford 500a2. One hot summer day, one of them decided to catch on fire on the way home from work. (doh) I will no longer by MTX subs. I currently have 1 12" xplod, but I'm gonna build custom boxes with infinity kappa perfect 10" subs from smilephotovideo.com. The box in that deal would be the only thing worth buying in my opinion.
