Need new tires!!!

Hey,guys my stock Dunlops are starting to go bald on me.Can you guys give some suggestions on proper tire settings(205/50,215/45) for my 16s.Something that won't mess up the RPM levels,etc.

This is a tire size calculator, it allows you to put in your current size tire, then play around with possible sizes you would like to use and it will tell you the difference in things like your speedo, tire diameter, width....all that good stuff.

Wait so in order to find out which tire size is best,I try to match up/or get close to the number of Rev./mi between the stock tire and the new tire??

Well,I got close to matching the revs,but the problem is that it was with 215/45 which is impossible since 215/45s don't fit 16" rims.So I'll just stick w/ another set of 195/50s,but instead of the usual V-rated tires,I want to go for more performancey tire that are Z-rated tires.

Now my question is,what brand/style do you guys recommend(at a reasonable price) and how long do they last??.I've heard that the Yokohama tires are good but they start to squeal when they wear out.I want to either get get Potenzas or Proxes but I'm open to all suggestions.

Most of the "better" high/ultra performance tires I've looked at that fit our stock rims in our stock size are H to V rated except a couple:

there's plenty in 205/50R16, the difference is negligible, it's +1 mph on the speedo, which is probably shooting about 2 mph low anyways.

edit: the falken ze-512's are nice tires, and not too expensive either.

Thanx,for the suggestions but I checked out the Dunlop and Toyo sites and the T1-S and the SP Sport 9K don't come in 195/50s.But the Toyo Proxes4 W do,so that's what I'm kinda leaning towards now.

And by the way,here are the revs/mi. comparing our stock 195/50s with 205/45s:

Stock(195/50/16): 852
New(205/45/16):867

I am on my 2nd set of 205/45/16 Yoko AVS ES 100's. There is a slight increase in acceleration. However, it's extremely minor. Go with a 205, they fit the stock rims beautifully, and even help a bit with road rash on the rims, as the rubber sticks out that much more.
There are also folks running 215's with no problems.

Anyone running 215's want to back me up?

My next switch will actually be to 205/55/16's, which as the miata tire size calculator tells you are off by more. But, they are not large enough to do damage to the drivetrain, they fit fine in the well, and you move into the "normal" tire size area, so your prices get cut by about 30%. For example, the Hankook's start in at 205/55 for around $65 SHIPPED per tire.

In my continuous quest to balance my bank account, I bring you:

Champiro 50 GT 195/50R16...

$350.00 all balanced and mounted at my local firestone place. They charged $14 for balance and mounting for a tire, that's $56, which brought the tire cost to $294, divide it by 4 and you have $73.50 a tire (spin) , that's all-season tire.



Yes, I'm a cheap ass, but what can you do if you don't have money....(sad2)
