2002 Protege5 slow/low
Another one of these. Not even sure if there is another thread because i didnt search. I think we need a new one anyway. So uhhh what do i get for my 2002 p5? Cheaper the better please. I remember someone posting up about all four tires shipped for $200 on some website... i couldnt find it..

khumos are great tires for the money and tire rack is the cheapest place...i'm on my 3rd set

yea, if your looking for 4 tires for $200 you need to go to one of those used tire shops on the side of the road.

thanks everybody.. i think the $200 tires where on discounttiredirect... they were decent... they lost somewhere in the what have you done to your p5 thread... i probably should explained more in the begining of this thread.. i know there are good tires out there. ive had dunlops, falkens, and kuhmo... prob gunna end up getting one of those.... i just NEED THE CHEAPEST TIRES!... college student. who spends money he doesnt have.

mazdaspeeder- thanks for the thread link... and telling me about the deals on discountdirect that hopefully will happen.. i think i can make it..

also i wanted to see if anyone knew about any tire deals going on now......another reason for this thread.

I got the Kumho Ecsta ASX, i like them but Im waiting for the snowfall to see how good they are in the snow and slush...
I know they are all season but thats what i wanted.

My previous Toyos Proxies wore out way too quickly and were really bad in snow, i was really disappointed.

I switched to a larger tire 205-55-16 (vs 195-50-16) Bridgestone Potensa's RE960AS. I bought these at Sam's which may not be popular in this forum but the price was good and they are rated for 80k miles. (yippy)

The noise problems I had with the stock Dunlops is gone and the life is much longer. Dunlops lasted ~25k miles.

I've had them for over 7 months and they are still like new. The larger tire looks better in my opinion too since the P5 has a small wheel look to begin with. You will get a 5% error on your speedometer and odometer but like I stated in a previous thread, I think I get better milage too... lower rpm for same speed... like a 6th gear... overdrive...blah blah(stfu)

i've got a seet of BFG G-force sports (205/50/r16) and i love them.....i had a set of Nexen 2000 on there before, and quite frankly it now feels like i actually have tires on my car. lol
Though in my opinion not a real big fan of the Asian tire i find it to be way to soft for my liking, wears way to fast for me. Personally i would say for the BFG's. They are kinda pricey but if you want to save some cash you're gona lose a bit of quality, thats the way i look at it. Also these tires are strictly summer tires though.

my last 2 sets of khumos have lasted 40k which is pretty good for a max summer tire...i think they were the rating right below z too

bgibb.....40000 doesn't actually seem to bad for an asian tire, but then it all comes down to you're own personal preference and what you like correct?

oh yeah....but hey he asked for oppinions...mine is just that

i'm paying around 400 bucks(for tires shipping mount and ballance)

and they have great grip, low noise and last 40k....

i, personally, see no point in buying bridgestones or goodyears for twice the price and half the miles they'll last....but if had $ and went to the track, hey some of them goodyears would be nice

oh no i know what your saying, i worked with bridgestones and i know how much of a garbage brand they are.....but you are right for 400 bucks thats total bang for you're buck.
