Need help replacing the engine in 2006 2.3 Mazda3

I just blew my engine, threw a rod (I am pretty sure I overboosted) and need some help.

1. Where is the best place to get a used replacement engine?

2. I looked at the factory manual for engine removal. It says I have to remove the fron steering gear components. Do I really have to remove them to pull the engine. I was just planning on disassemblying the wheels enough to remove the drive shafts and then pull the engine from the top.

I got this figured out. Sorry for bothering you guys with this question.

It looks like I can just remove the axle (to alloe engine removal) by disconnecting the steering linkage for the wheel.
