Hey guys,

Im down to a couple millimeters left on my FRONT brake pads, and i really need your help! please!!

About 1 week ago i ordered some EBC Greeen Stuff for my 07 speed3, once i recieved them, i tried to put them on..

Once i took off my factory pads, I noticed that on each rotor, there are two pads (duh) and on both pads there were 3 hinges on the back side of them.. The pads that i recieved do not have hinges on both inner and outer pads.. and seemed a bit smaller too, i noticed that they were for a regular Mazda3.. (F*CK!!!) im going to be sending them back for a full refund..

And with only millimeters left on my pads, I've been searching ALL over for the proper ones... NO ONE HAS THEM!!!

I'm not trying to go factory ($217.00) <---- NO WAY

Looking for Hawks or EBCs..

Even looking for temporary pads to get me through another few weeks has been harder than hell.. Everywhere i go, they say that they have them, and when i take a look at them, they're the same thing, a bit small and only one pad has the 3 hinges (for the piston).. (thus out of a front brake pad set, only 2 pads have hinges and the other 2 don't (basically just floating), when really for the fronts, I need all 4 pads to have 3 hinges..)

If anyone is running either hawks or ebcs on their speed3, please tell me where you got them and if possible PLEASE give me the part#...

Hopefully I made myself clear enough to understand.. Thank you very much for all the help that is offered!!!

What are you asking for? A place to buy new pads? Good luck on a Saturday. Try sending a PM to Captain KRM P5, an e-mail to Ken@ProtegeGarage.com or go to his web site www.protegegarage.com. That's where I get the majority of the parts for my 3.
Even if it's not listed on the site, he can get them and will give you the best deal around.
He has a couple different pads listed on the site:
http://siteground207.com/~protegeg/index.php?cPath=281_160_255

If you call him, he would probably ship them to you overnight (at a cost).

I was thinking about ordering the Hawk HPS pads from ken, but I just ordered an exhaust from him, and took about 10 business days to recieve it, i was thinking that i would have to wait the same amount of time for the pads..

I don't think i even have 10 business days left on my pads.. even though i still just use my engine to slow me down to reduce putting my foot on the brake pedal...

I've been looking everywhere for new pads (even just crappy temporary ones to last me a few weeks or so) Not looking to find any today or tomorrow.. just to find as soon as possible..

Has anyone purchased brake pads from ken b4?? how long is shipping?? how much is an overnight shippment from him????

Also, looking at the protegegarage website, is [HB549F] the part number for the Hawk HPS???

Thank you very much for your reply goldwing200!!

Can't help you with the part number verification but I'm sure if you call Ken or e-mail him, then he'd be able to work something out expedite things. I've ordered EBCs from him in the past but I wasn't in any hurry to get them.

oh boy, not good So ebc does not make pads for speed? Buy cheapies at your auto parts store and wait for Hawks

topbrakes.com is pretty good. they list everything for "speed" models only so they'll get it right. I bought some hawk hp+ from him for the track last summer and I usually order fluid from them. Free ground shipping and you can probably get a rush order for more $$. Pep Boys carries Hawk too, probably not for our cars but might be worth a shot is you're desperate. BTW, myself and couple of others really like the hawks....I'd stick with them.

Not to hijack but I have a question related to this topic.

I dont race my MS3 but when it comes time to get brakes would those Hawk HPS be a good choice?

I just want to be sure they dont wear on the rotors more then stock pads and hopefully provide less brake dust then stockers.

I am only looking for a "good" every day driver type brake pad that wont chew up rotors. I will be taking it to Pepboys or something for the labor but want to bring my own pads instead of using theirs.

If you're not really pushing your car that much, i wouldn't really spend too much on brake pads.. Hawks are good, i've never experienced them myself, but from what i've been told they are really good..

Thank you for that website!! I will ask them for overnight shipping.. Also im waiting for a reply from Ken on overnight shipping from him also, (he seems like a much more trusted member on these forums) :)

THANK YOU!!

I bought the Hawk HPS's from Ken... they took a long time because they shipped from Cali (i think that is what Ken said), but it should be faster for you...

And yes... HPS's are awesome in my book.

No extra wear on your rotors from them?

Dealer guy told me that some of these pads eat up rotors and that stock are best. I take what they say and let it pass out my ears so thought I would ask you guys.

Not bad since a full set would run me $140 or so plus about the same in labor with the rotors turned.

dealership tried to charge me $217 and something cents... i was like, "ok, thank you, bye!" lmao! IMO factory is more expensive and isn't that good (performance wise)...

i just ordered a set of EBC Yellows - EBC-DP41773R - for ms6, but the fmsi # is the same. i'll maybe take some pictures and report back how they fit and how they work. some friends with 911's run them at sebring and on the street, say they are much more rotor friendly than the hawks. ordered them from buybrakes.com, called them first to figure out what fit. FMSI# is D1186. this is an industry standard number. the audi s4 pads are the same FMSI, but they have sensors in them and cost a few $ more.

I have never noticed hightened wear on the rotors, but i guess that i have not really had "stock" pads in some time...so...i am not a good judge.

All i know is that my braking sucked (stock) and now it doesnt (Hawk HPS).(cool)
