I'm not the best when it comes to wiring in cars, so I'm in need of help -.-

Well here it is: I was replacing one of the tag lights on my 08 MS3, of course being the smart person I am I left the front headlights on and when I went to put the LED I got a nice spark and now the right side brake light, right side turn signal, and both tag lights no longer work while driving.

The bulbs are fine, when I brake the brake light turns on and when I use my turn signal the light flashes but they remain off when driving. I checked the fuses and everything looks accordingly, I have an aftermarket HID kit I'm not sure if that matters but the low beams and high beams are fine.

Any advice would help! -

I haven't been to these forums in ages!

Kind of confusing... When you brake, the brake light works, but the right side lamps don't work? Does that mean with the headlights on?

Most of the time, fuses are obviously blown, but on occasion, it takes a meter to be sure. You did check both panels, right?

Let me make it less confusing lol ... or more confusing. The lights (brake light, passenger side yellow light) don't turn on when I turn my lights on. The brake light does work though when I press on the brake just not when driving with my headlights on. The same goes for the turning light, it doesn't work while my headlights are on but it works when I use my turn signal.

I guess I will double check my fuses tomorrow, but I'm not sure which fuse controls the license plate light, and right brake light and right signal light.

I'm not sure where to locate my relay switch as well.

The brake light is only supposed to work when you press the whoa pedal. The turn signal only works when you engage the lever, never just when the headlights are on. Only the tail lights (and tag lights) will work with the headlights.

Sounds like the fuse for the right-side running lights is blown. I've not had to dig for fuses yet, but I'd guess this one is on the inside panel. Not likely to be a relay.

Thanks for the help!

Okay, so it's most likely a fuse issue? I can't find my manual atm ... trying to figure out which fuse it might be but Google and the search function here are getting the best of me lol

First place to start. Not good to contemplate other possibilities. Also not likely to be anything worse. You can download a .pdf manual from Mazda.

Most likely it's fuse #46 -- 7.5A "Taillight (RH), Parking light (RH), and tag lights.

thats wierd mazda wired it left and right rather than front and back. seems like the solution though.

What this leaves is at least one set working. In this case, the left side. That's fuse # 81.

Not a problem. Glad I could "chip in". Let us know how it came out. Be aware -- LEDS are polarity sensitive. Usually they just don't work if they're hooked up backwards. Doubt if that's what took it out, but quien sabe'?
