Need help for suspension P5
In spring, I want to start to make lapping. I want to change all my suspension.

For the shocks, I will take Tokico Illumina. My big problem are the coils spring.... I want to have coils with which I will have pleasure on the track and that on the street, I don't want to have something to much ruff. I want to make a compromise.

The choices I have...

I have a Protege5 !!

Eibach Pro-kit:
- Progressive,
- 147-183lbs/in (front spring rate)
- 74-133lbs/in (rear spring rate)
- F 1.4" R 1.2"

Tein H-Tech:
- Linear
- 162 lbs/in (front spring rate)
- 129 lbs/in (rear spring rate)
- F 1.2" R 1.1"

Tein S-Tech:
- Linear
- 179lbs/in (front spring rate)
- 145 lbs/in (rear spring rate)
- F 1.5" R 1.8"

If somes have feedback with Tein suspension, it could be great because I never heard feedback about them.

Just a suggestion, have you thought of an air ride suspension set up from easystreet? Just press the button and go from race to street in less than a sec. I have had mine for about a year now, and I love it.

Um... I have to say thanks for the laught. Dont want to be mean but I would not use air ride for racing. It is one of the roughest rides you will have. Both companys you have picked are great for many things. What you are looking for I'd say go with the Tein S's. They will be a little bit more of a drop but you will love how it rides and how well it grips the road. Just make sure you get an alignment after they are put on.

Espelirs!

Front: Linear
Rear: Progressive

Rate:
Front: 179lbs/in
Rear: 157lbs/in

Drop:1.4

These are very nice springs. Not a harsh ride and good cornering as well.

do you have the auto pilot or just the digital damper controller?? or both

Got both. Its not a harsh ride at all. They used to be, but now its the best ride I have had. Not to mention I ride it dropped about three inches.

your not being mean --- but just to share some info. these new dampers are just like the Tokico alluminas -- you set it softer for street or click it up for a firmer track day --- the difference is you dont have to turn each knob -- its done digital by hitting a button --- woot :)

EXACTLY, what you said. (thumb)

The air ride I just installed on my friend Celica is the crappyest I've ever been in. I've also had so many others agree. What Kit do you have?

Cusson: For lapping, only S.Tech's and Espelir's have the enough stiffnest to go through. I will go with the Espelir since they are the stiffest and do not lower the ride too much to achieve very good suspension travel. Remember that too little travel is bad... Riding on bumpstops is your worst ennemy!

PM for more infos, you know i'm the best lllllllllllllol! ;)

Go with Espelirs. I have S-techs but I've been kind of dissapointed with them. The drop is perfect, but the car just doesnt turn like I think it should.

if i remember right -- i think the celica uses air cylinders which do ride hard --

I don't know which would be better, but in the tire/suspension page there is a post by NSNmotorsports for a decent sale until the 10th on a lot of stuff. Don't know if you are buying now or not, just trying to help the cause.

Have you tought about the Racing Beat springs ? Thats the springs that came on the MP3 and MSP... one of the best FWD's in its time (first)

I have them now and the drop is too low at the back of the car. I really don't like the look it gives to the car...

jic's were a bit to harsh for our crappy roads...it's more for the tracks...teins...hee hee they're more street friendly. good luck...peace out.

That's prolly b/c they were meant for the sedan, which is lighter in the back than the hb
Did you get the RB springs from RB or are they MS springs?

Actually in some cases air ride suspensions out-perform traditional suspension methods. Do some research before you make your generalization based only on your experience.

Air ride never works well for track setups. It's way too heavy and complicated, and the spring rates you get with air are rediculously progressive. Yes, it is possible in certain cases to out perform traditional springs with air ride, but it is not the norm. Certainly not for track setups. I've been in a few cars with air ride and I wouldn't even think of recommending it to someone.

I've had tien s techs and stock shocks for 30k miles. For a street/autoX setup I can't really complain. Its a little too soft in the back for autoX and a little too stiff all around for the street, but thats too be expected with a dual purpose car. If you want a track-only setup you'll have to go with coilovers and adjustable shocks.
