well folks, i have a huge job ahead of me, so far i've beenn running around with a 4ch amp running off of the stock small AWG(gauge) wire. Im trying to rewire with 16 AWG and i need help on how to put the wire through the stock tubing(i mean the rubber tube between the door and car that protects the wiring from the elements). I had the amp sitting under the front passenger seat and I got tired worrying about people treading all over it and sliding around. Im trying to relocate the amp to the trunk. Im a cheap b@stard and i dont want to pay people to do this for me when i can do this myself...

Good luck with that. The "rubber tube" incudes a connector. There is no direct path to run wires. If you want to up the gague you will have to disassemble the connector and put new wires into the connectors.

i tried everything i could to make it work through the stock rubber tube, but its so much of a b**** that its not worth it. what i ended up doing is removing the plastic trim from the kick panel areas, drill a hole just below the notch where the kick panel clips in, then i located a rubber hole filler just below the rubber tubing between the can and the door and removed it. took a hanger and fished the wire from the hole i drilled up to the opening where the rubber hole filler was. cut a slight hole in the rubber hole filler, pulled the wire through and snapped it back in. ran the remaining speaker wire coming out of the cab with heat shrink tubing, zip tied it to the wires coming out of the rubber tube beneath the door panel and shrank the tubing since its exposed to the elements, ran the wire underneath the door gasket and drilled a hole ( had to since my door is 100% deadened with 2 types of deadener) and ran the wire through the hole and attatched to the mid/tweet.

hey Euphorism
do you have any pics on how you did this or maybe a pic of the finished product?

My brother told me that I can use a hanger to put the wire through the rubber tube(considering i dont have power windows or door locks it should be empty), but i noticed that in the front, i dont know where the wire would exit due to the dash being in the way, when i discovered that, i didnt even bother to check out the back doors because i knew i was gonna get frustrated

remove your seat, then bolt the amp to the bottom of the seat.. this is my set up in my p5, oh and if you want to steal it you have to remove the seat...everything is ther inside the car and out of the way..

ill try and snap some photos for you. the problem with trying to hanger pull the wires through the stock grommet is one: you dont have access to the cab side of the opening without taking the entire dash apart, two: the way the stock wire tube reaches the door itself it hits a flat plastic harness that is one hell of a b**** to get through. seriously. and i did 14awg fyi.

as to the comment above about the seats.. i dont think hes looking for a place to mount his amps, he asking how to upgrade the speaker wire from stock and get it into the door.

welp today im going to see if i can try and get around it and try not to destroy things or get mad and end up hurting my baby. wish me luck folks and euphorism thanks for the info, and if you could still try and get those pics up that'd b great!

i just took the door off... drilled out a larger hole in the plastic connectors that run the wire from cab to door and was done... it really was quite easy... after of course i realized if i just removed the damn door it would make my job a lot easier... also the stamped metal on the cab side of the plastic molex type connector is sharp as hell and i would recomend putting some duct tape or something around the metal edges if you remove the plug so you don't do what i did and cut a wire that operates the window.. lol though it was only a 3$ part at the deaership to get a new female insert and solder the pigtail to the old wire...
wish i had seen this thread earlier... good luck... i also put in 14awg
