Need help choosing, buying a new MSP

Yes the titanium is by far the best, but I can't seem to find one, and the lighter silver just doesn't do it for me.

littleman, sounds like I am.

I was just so torn by the colors I couldn't make a decision. You have to admit $15995 for a brand new car that has this much stuff on it is incredible.

yeah, esp. when I payed 20K for mine 7 months ago :(

Sorry, but gotta strike while the iron is hot. Man, I like the blue too now.

Definitely blue or black, titanium would be nice, but it's not available.

lol. . . .heh make em cut a deal and ask them for a black or orange only on the condition that you get the rims from the 3.5's

it's worth a shot

On the black I think I like the lighter wheels. The orange with the gunmetal 03.5's would like sweet though.

I saw the blue the other day upclose and for some reason the badges look cheaper next to that color. I don't know why, but they just didn't mesh as well as they do with other colors.
I personally like the black. But I am biased. I love black! It is my non-color of choice!
Plus I like the sleeper look. Most people would never think that my car has get up and goooooooo! Not saying my car is the fastest MSP or faster than this car or that....just saying that no one who isn't into cars knows what it is! And that is just fine by me! I like stealth and that is what the black does for all of us!
The other colors just don't have that same stealth.

Either the black or the blue. I do prefer the kit on the 03s better, and it seems like you do too, but the blue is a real nice color to ignore.

I would personally get the Orange, because I know that even though I wouldn't fit in with the Infinitys, BMWs, Toyotas, and Porsches at work (I still don't), and I'd probably get some ricers revving at me (just ignore), I would pick the color that made me want to drive the car even more. And yes, I do believe that a color will make you want to drive the car more.

So, even though I don't want to push you to anything radical, I'd say to just follow your gut and just purely go on emotion.

So unless you're driving clients around in it, go for whatever color makes you enjoy the car even more. Even though people might make comments, deep inside they just wish they were as bold and young as you are!!

Ok, maybe that's just what I tell myself too :D

HAHA, if I got blue I would definitely keep the darker wheels. It sounds like black is a good choice.

Well Good Luck Brian!

You got some "difficult" choices to make, but I'm glad your coming here from the Nissan Side :D

I do miss the linear power of the Max, but $ for $, this car is great.

Thanks for all the advice, hopefully I'll pick it up this weekend or something.

Also, I don't really want to mod the car, the suspension is fine, but I may want to raise the boost and do an air filter.

What is the recommended raise in boost, I don't want to run at the edge. If the max safe boost is 12PSI then I probably want to run 10. I have no clue what the car even runs stock, so someone fill me in on the obvious. I want to keep the stock exhaust, stock cat, etc. Just want to up the boost, and do a drop in filter. What kind of gains can be expected, and is it electronic or manual boost controlling?

Thanks

stock boost is ~6.5psi. your best bet would be to run 9-10psi. most ppl that have upped their boost are running in this range because its the safest and gives ya the juice!

it all depends on the dealership, but most don't like seeing boost controllers. a good MBC is the JoeP, the newer version is on sale for around $35 right now. do a search for his sale thread.

apexi avr-c(sp?) & greddy profec b's are good EBC's...

Depends on the dealership, but unless the mod caused or is related to the problem your golden.

The Mazda Speed Protege come around 150hp and 150 ft. lbs of torque. 15.5's can easily be hit by a decent driver.

If you have had the car flashed. (Flashing is a process where the reset certain parameters in the cars computer. In this instance they raised the timing due to a hesitation issue) I would not run more then 10 psi. But if the car does not have the flash done I would run 12 psi daily.

Most people have ordered the Manual boost contoller from www.joepmbc.com They are very cheap price wise and if I am correct there is a group buy going on right now, they range around 50 bucks.

Gains from the MBC are large. They car feels totally different, don't expect the car to be a 12 sec. street monster but people have pulled 14.2-14.4 with raised boost and filters.

Get blue. Black is sweat, oh so sweet, but hard to keep up. I would opt for blue if not titanium. I saw it driving past the dealer (my friends will not allow me to go there) and I creamed my pants.
