Need Help! Brake doesn't release all the way

2003 Mazda Protege
First I noticed that my Protege would come to a stop at a light and I could let my foot off the brake without it rolling. I felt that my right front wheel was hot, so I checked to see if I could move the rotor while it was up on a cat in neutral. That's when I confirmed that I could hear a rubbing noise coming from the brake.

It seems that one of my brakes doesn't release all the way and rubs slightly. Why would that be and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks for any input!!

first take off the caliper of the sliders, clean it,grease it,and try it abck on if it resolves the problem,if not,you probably have a seized caliper that needs to be changed, our caliper are really easy to seize, many owners had to changed them....

If it's seized, does that mean that the caliper couldn't squeeze either?

Had to change mine.
MY right brake was dragging, so I pulled everything apart and found the gasket on the piston was torn and there was rust going on inside, So I just replaced the caliper.

There pretty cheap and its really easy to just swap em. Be sure to buy new brakes and make sure the rotors not warped.

How much $ would I be looking at (roughly) for a new caliper?

not exactly, when you press on the brakes, you put pressure on the piston to push on the pads, but if its seized, when you release the brakes, the pressure is released, and it goes back in by gravity more than pulling pressure,so thats why it keep touching on the rotor....

for the price, well i d say around 80-90$ probably for a caliper, about 1/2 hour labor to fixe it....
