Hey just got a new 7 in Alpine Iva-w505 2 din touch screen. I had it all hooked up and everything was working, except i didnt hook up the wires to the foot brake and e brake to show more set up options. Once i hooked it up to both brake wires i didnt have any more options and just the 15 amp blade fuse for the taillights thats located in the engine bay blows every time i turn my lights on. ive changed it and they just keep going. currently i have one wire hooked up to the green/yellow foot brake wire and one split from that which is grounded, and just one wire only hooked up to the parking brake wire. Do i need to ground the parking brake wire too or something?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I believe theres a short in one of your wires. Check connections, make sure they're solid and clean.

the main purpose of the foot brake and e brake wires on the head unit is so that you cant watch dvds while your riding down the road so when a company like best buy and circuit city cant have a liability issuse about someone who wrecks their car while riding down the road. every head unit ive hooked up just capped those wires off and it is safe to steup the fuse up to a 20 amp and im more than certain it wont blow any more. If you have any questions just hit me back.

Yeah what he said, just unplug them.

If the fuse keeps blowing, it is blowing for a reason! Stepping up the fuse size won't solve the problem. The alpine's need to see a sequence of the foot and hand brake in order to see video, just capping them off won't allow that. If you want to see video while driving (illegal), you can install switches to the 2 wires to thier respective power and ground to duplicate the sequence. Also peripheral makes a module that will automatically do the sequence, part #PTR7.

first of thanks for all the input guys i appreciate it.
i actually think i was wrong about the cause of my problem, after disconnecting the screen wires from both the foot and e brake wires, the fuse was still blowing.

recently before the screen my subs stopped workin and then to fix them i hooked the remote wire to ignition wire, and only after a day of driving the fuse started to blow. after some research i realized the ignition wire cant power the amp, so then i just hooked it up to the blue/white remote wire from the screen, and so far no blown fuses or dead battery yet, but i just finished hooking it up
