like title says. there is a guy living on the second floor in my building.
occasionally he drives drunk. not a little drunk (I do not anticipate any level anyway) but so drunk that he parks across two parking lots. talking does not seem to work.

the only way I see to stay in legal boundaries is to report that f**ker to the police and let cops teach him a lesson.

thoughts?

--please do not offer to poop on his hood since his f**king sienna does not have one.
--cutting tires and that kind of sh*t is way out of my age too.

You should call the police and prevent an accident or save a life
absolutely. this is what bugs me the most. hate that s***.
but technically how would it be possible?
I mean it is not a real time action. I dont know when he arrives etc

kinda sucks that you don't have a good timeframe, but the least you can do is report it. that way if something happens later, even if it's to someone else, and the guy is taken to court over it you can present the previous report you made as more evidence against him

my guess is the police wont do a stakeout for him. not only would that be a waste of time and manpower for them, but you are also not an actual informant so they can only take your word on so much stuff. police get soooo many calls everyday from ppl like "bad neighbors" or "angry lovers" that are just ppl trying to get someone else arrested. so unless they actually see the crime being committed, they probably can't help out.

but if he's arriving that drunk all the time, eventually he will stop. how that happens is probably not the best way, either he wrecks or the police stop him somewhere else

maybe you can do some investigation and find out what bar he's going to. if you call the police at this point they should be able to go after him. saying "there's someone drinking and driving" or "is about to drive and they are drunk" is a little different than telling the police "my neighbor just got home and is drunk", it's kind of after-the-fact

but like i said the least you can do is call the police and report it. maybe they'll do something what do i know, im just trying to play devils advocate a little, or else i might tell you to poop on his hood

Short of tailing him to his favorite watering hole & waiting patiently with your cell phoe ready to dial the police, I can't think of an effective way to get this done.

Do you think the guy would recognize you if you walked into the bar & nursed a club soda or a NA beer, and catch on to your plan to report him?

The only other thing I can think of is if you were to videotape him arriving home drunk like that. But you'd have to have a clear shot of the car in motion, and him- his face- getting out fo the driver's seat, stumbling around, etc. And I still doubt that would be admissable in court, etc.

But maybe if you posted multiple recordings of him stumbling out of his car & into his front door on YouTube & then started posting the link on flyers around the neighborhood, etc., you could get some peer pressure points. (Would there be any legal issues in doing that? Harassment, etc.?)

Get the plate number and report him to the police. They take that kind of stuff seriously, and hell be more likely to be pulled over at night.

folks, thanks for your thoughts on this.

I agree just calling police most probably won't have any immediate effect. Except like was said upper - in case of accident it may play like not direct evidence in court to punish him harder.
But it may be too late - smbd may get hurt.

Taking video and following him to the bar etc wont work technically; video - well it may be considered fake etc etc..

But there is a light at the end of this tunnel. I'm pretty sure he is not going to any bars for a drink. He works at some kind of construction/house interior fixups etc and I bet he gets drunk there with his gang. I would need different car to find out where he works and do my job.

This is the only realistic idea I have at this moment.

Call the police, one day I was driving on the highway and saw this older man in a mustang that was all over the place, and most likely drunk. I called the police, and although I felt a little bad for him, I felt good, because I could have saved a life

That's why my other car is a mod jeep, last time this happened to me, I was just about to winch him out of my space, when he moved the car !! never have had the same problem!!!

You have one crime to work with: using two spaces

report the misuse of spaces to the apartment managment. You can also call the non 911 number for your local donut munchers, and tell the desk sergeant what you told the apt complex, and include your suspicions.

the rest is hearsay, not relevant

Change his house numbers when he leaves, or repaint his front door. He'll end up getting arrested for drunk in public when he can't find his house/apartment and ends up wandering around for hours. One of my friends did this to a bad roommate he had in college. Campus security picked him up for sleeping on the sidewalk at like 3AM.(drunk)

wont work - wife/kids will pick his ass up.
talked to the landlord-he says he would kicked him out long time ago but due to bad economy everybody is a "valuable" customer... ohh well

Break one of his taillights. With a little luck a cop will pull him over for it and notice how hammered he is. Not legal obviously, so don`t get caught.

I was actually thinking that way too...
and it looks easier and more cleaner just to take his plate off and put backwards....

You could tell a jack ass cop from hoffman estates about it

sure he would drive over and follow him for days

When I was younger and lived my mom our neighbor was a complete drunk, he was older, he used to be so wasted sometimes he would actually pull in our drive way and pull halfway up to our house before he realized he had the wrong one, keep in mind that his driveway was on the other side of his house. We called the cops numerous times, they never actually seemed to care, they were always like thanks we'll keep an eye out. Nothing was ever done about it, we tried reporting him dozens of times, took videos of him being wasted pulling in our driveway. Nothing worked, they didnt seem to care.

I honestly dont know what to say, chances are if he's that drunk all the time then any little thing you could do to him wouldnt make his life that much worse.... If he's older maybe he's already gotten a couple dui's maybe dosent even have a license? Who knows, talking to him wont work either, messing up his car just opens the gate of him doing the same to yours, its just a bum deal all around.

Talk to someone about getting your spot changed perhaps? It may be the easiest, not the most satisfying but maybe your best bet?
