HI Guys , I am new to the group. I've been reading all your posts over the last week and have really learned alot. I just purchased a Audibahn 8" powered sub from crutchfield. My concern is running the wires and where to connect the wires to. Do I have to run the power wire to the Battery? Its say its 100W rms and 200w Max. If so what is the easiest way to get the wire to the battery? Next, I am planning on using the speaker inputs on the sub. What is the easiest way to tap into the left and right speakers channels? I really don't want to take out the radio or door panels if I don't have to. I noticed the wire under the dash, side panels, there is wire that enters the floor (into the bottom carpet). Is there speaker wire in that bundle. I tought I read in another post that all speaker wire is Grey + White -. Any Info would would really help me. Thanks in advance
I have a 2005 3s sedan

1) Yes you will need to run a power wire to the battery. I don't have a Mazda 3 so I can't help you with wiring. Usually there is a rubber grommet in the firewall by the battery which you can pop out and cut a hole in.

2) The easiest way to get to the speaker outputs on a sedan is to use the rear speakers. If you are placing the sub in the trunk this is the obvious solution. If you are placing it under the seat then the best thing to do is to remove the head unit and tap in behind it. Someone else may be able to help you find the wires elsewhere but they will be bundled with other wires and I would be afraid of tapping into the wrong ones and frying the amp. Check out the stickies in this section for which color wires to look for.

well for a hole in the firewall i found that one of the easier ones to get to is there is a bundle of wires on the passenger side with large grommet that you can cut a slit into to run your power wire, you will have to take out your glove box to access this area. another way to run the wire is through the hole where the throttle cable is supposed to be since IIRC the mazda 3 has drive by wire throttle. i elected not to use that hole since i ran 2 4guage wires in my friends 3 and that throttle cable hole can barely fit a single 4 guage wire

hope that helps
