1999 protege ES
I have a 1999 mazda protege ES with a really bad, but not entirely broken driver side ball joint.

So, I have been looking around, and have heard talk of it but havent found alot of info on it. I am fully aware that ball joints on 3rd gen pros only come with the LCA. but I have read about a few people saying that you can just replace the ball joint, but it requires a little bit of extra effort.
I have a new LCA/balljoint on its way to me, however, my car needs to drive untill it gets here... which may not be till tuesday or wednesday. maybe even later.

So, what I am asking is does anybody have the the actual information as to which year/make/model cars ball joint should fit pretty close if I were to press the old one out?

The crappiest part about the whole situation is that I already replaced the LCA less than 2 years ago.

and I guess the alternative question is what happens to your car when your ball joint separates whilst driving? just so I can know what to expect...

If it were to separate the tire will run up into the fender. Let's just hope that you aren't on the freeway when it happens.

One of the bolts came out on the drivers side came out for me. Destroyed my fender and sideskirt. And ate up some of my tire. I was only going 5mph. Decided to turn left and it popped out.
