Hi:

The Appearance Package has the rear aero flares and the front air dam. Anbody have pictures of those on a 5 door car? I need to see before I buy, but the dealer does not have one.

I am ordering my car.

Thanks,

But how is that different from the stock front?

I've seen the rear aero flares. If thats the front air dam, how is it any different from a stock one? Photos would be helpful, thanks. 5 door

Does it make a major difference visually? Air dam?

How do you like it? I can see some angles in the picture, but I guess it adds a little more flare and a lower look.

How come the Mazda.com website lists Appearance Package has "front air dam" and "rear aero flares". The "front air dam" thing doesn't make sense to me. Are they just talkinga bout the front flares or is there something about the air dam?

Thanks,

Do

the air damn is to be color matched where some come black..mine is the apperance package of first 04. the aero flares are add on accessories..look at a mazda 3 booklet..you can buy them and put them on if you want

The "front air dam" is only available on the 4 door "i" model, 5 door owners are only stuck with the "front aero flares". The front aero flares make the front end look more pronounced and a little less smooth than the stock front end. The rear aero flares are a joke, the stock rear end already has a crease line and the rear aero flares just accentuate it a little bit more.

The "Appearance Package" is a dealer-installed (or consumer-installed) option. Not including the rear diffuser, the parts are $760 MSRP plus installation. The diffuser is another $250.

You can find a list of all the parts on MazdaUSA and then convince your dealer to sell them to you wholesale.

Apparently, they are calling the front lip spoilers an "air dam".

"A little less smooth"-- a negative thing?

Hey,
Is more "pronounced and a little less smooth" a good or bad thing to you. I can't make up my mind until I get into front of one. Would you have preferred not to have it?

It's a good thing for me. Personally, I found the nose a bit too smooth after comparing the two. What I would have preferred was to have bought the rear aero flares back in early February when I ordered the car because back then they were half the price of what I paid for them in late March!

Thanks, that was good information.

If you ever have or find other photos of the 5 door car with the appearance kit, please post them. Different angles will give me a better idea on whether I want them or not.

You want more photos? Wesmaster's VR hatch was enough for me. (boom02)

Don't confuse it (or my photos) with the photo that Bigballin posted, that hatch looks bone stock from the front...no aero flares at all.

That was definately not done by the dealer. If you look closely you will notice that the door handles are shaved. This was a custom job.

In my opinion you should not get the appearence package and spend the money on the Kenstyle body-kits that are going for $850. Then just save the money to get it installed and painted. It will be much better look than some accent pieces that in my mind, don't really do any justice for the car.

Does anyone have the Kenstyle kit installed on their 5-door. I would like to see what the going rate is on getting one installed and painted. Thanks
