Nav system map color question

My CX-7 Nav system has an option for changing the map color. (Actually 3 choices). However, when I select a different color, nothing changes. It stays a sort of light blue. Is this a problem with the nav system itself? Or is is a problem with the DVD disk?

I think I tried it once or twice and found that it only changed the color of the grass or surrounding backgrounds. Wasn't very useful in my opinion.

Perhaps someone else has noticed something more appealing.
