Once again, we will be heading out to Mid-Ohio for another NASA event. We've got several members already signed up for next months event, Tom (Machiavelli) HPDE2, Lauri (Coppertone) HPDE2 and I will be running Time Trials, along with Bill.

Last weekend, it seems everyone had a great time on track for Hyperdrive, hopefully we have a few more noobs come out. I think Evan is coming out, I think Phen's dad is coming out to play as well in the Boxster, hopefully the tranny is done on the MSM so we can see Phen get in some laps. ( If you need tires, I'll loan you a set. I have some Nittos NT-01 215/45/17).

So, please come and join us for another great track event with NASA. BTW, the food and beer was great at the end of the event!! Sign up ASAP, as the spots fill rapidly as we all know.

In! Just let me know where to sign up and send money.

i'm good to go for the 14th! i also need to make sure i keep up with these threads! lol

Count me in pending checking the calendar-I need to get pictures correct this time! But I don't know about running my MS3 which I still owe way too much money on for something to happen to it....:(

James, your car will be safer on the track thant it is on the highway. Remember it is an controlled event and you can drive as fast as you want or as slow as you want.

what marlon said, especially for hyperdrive ... i can honestly say i drive faster on the highway on my way to work in the morning than i do during an HPDE ... LOL

i told marlon, for me it's not how fast i can go down the straight - or even my lap times at this point, it's how fast and controlled i can go around the turns, that's the thrill for me.

i'm just sayin'

Marlon, is this helmet satisfactory for Hyperdrive? I'm not looking to spend big bucks since I'll only use it a couple times a year and I'll be researching websites for rules for the next 5 days finding answers. I figured I could just ask you real quick on here... Sorry for the nOOb question.

The helmet is acceptable, you have picked a winner!!!!

Just an FYI, if you are going to particpate in the NASA Hyperdrive @ Mid-Ohio on the August 14, please do so ASAP. There are less than several spots available remaining and unlike last time, there may not be enough instructors to help out late arrivals.

If you need any assistance, please let me know and I can work with NASA to help you out.

if you even THINK you want to do it, just register while there is still space available and then you can always cancel later, check their cancel policy, but up to a certain point you can get a total refund, i believe.

better to be safe than sorry, i think this is the last NASA event at Mid Ohio this year!! (according to my social calendar of events ... lol)

I am not going to be running this year I think, but next year I will definitely do hyperdrive. I just want to go and show my support for the Ohio Mazda folks and have a good time hanging out and watching cars. I can't wait for this weekend, it is always such a fun time and soooo laid back!

I'm registering right now online and it's asking me for "car numbers". What's that? Should I just make up a random 3 number car number?

Nevermind, Phen comes though once again with the rapid text message reply. Car #42 or #24 for me! I'm all registered and super excited!

i was going to say, it didn't seem to matter what number you had (unless you were actually racing, etc) but you needed a number on your car to pass tech

The reason for numbers is for some unknown reason you spin or go off course. Sometimes you see a number of like cars, like all of the Lotuses, Miata and 350 Z's that ran in a group. If you go off track with all 4 wheels, they are going to pull you in, the do not want to pull in the wrong car, so that is why they ask that all cars have numbers.

Can't wait to see you out there Evan! I am sure that you will find out the cars limitations and yours as well. You will find out the full potential as well, given all the work you've put into it. Nice to see modded cars actually on track, I am sure we'll be able to spot the P5 any and everywhere on the track.

Make sure you go to the front so you don't have to worry about traffic. I am excited for you, can't wait for next weekend.

Hey Lauri, are you doing the HyperDrive too? If not, any chance I may be able to borrow your helmet? I wash my hair daily and don't use any product. But I understand if that grosses you out. Haha. No pressure though!

I was going to buy one but with the Snell 2010 rating coming up in October I'd rather wait till then, buy a new helmet and have it good to go for 5 years longer than if I buy one now.

She'll be in HPDE 1/2 for the weekend, I am sure she'll let you use it.
