Hey guys/gals. Search came up empty for this info, and I don't want to go measuring stranger's cars in parking lots.

I obviously drive a P5, but am looking for some info about your rear wiper blade arm. What is the overall length of the arm, and what size is the bolt that attaches the arm to the windshield.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ummm... I think it's a 14" blade. It's a Mazda-specific blade, though. I dunno if you want to modify it to fit another vehicle (if that's what you're thinking about).

Not sure on the bolt size. Probably 12mm.

I think I know what he means. The P5 rear wiper arm/blade is just a fairly standard look, while the Mazda3 has a nice simple looking arm.

that's exactly it. I was thinking of using the 3's arm on my P5. any other info about my original question anyone could give me would still be helpful. haven't found the answer yet.

Hey wait, my roommate has a Mazda3 hatch when he gets back from class I'll see what I can do.

You really don't want to put a Mazda3 rear arm on, regardless of how swoopy it looks. The wiper blade is a dealer-only item and costs like $27.

At least then I'd be able to easily locate a replacement. No auto parts stores ever have the size of the P5 rear wiper in stock anyway :P

I'll try to remember to ask my roommate if I can take a look at his rear wiper or even swap it to see if it fits... but I don't know where he is now so I probably won't get a chance to ask him until tomorrow.

can the rear wiper blade be replaced with say a silicone blade? if so what is the length that can be used to replace it.

Oh yeah I never did get a chance to ask my roommate about that. When I'm back at school next week I'll try to remember.

Nope. Because of the way it's designed, you can't replace it with anything but a factory blade. I know... mine got ripped off at the car wash a couple weeks ago. The parts guy cut me a deal and it "only" cost me $22.

You can disassemble it once and put a refill in it but when you try to disassemble it a second time (6 months later or so), the plastic breaks.

That's what happened with mine, at least.

You and your good weather can kiss my ass. (yes)

Huh, every auto parts store I've ever been in has a whole row of different sized wiper blades. I've never had a problem finding a replacement, but it's not like you have to replace the rear wiper all that often. (poke)

Back on topic, I think it'd look a lot better to just take the rear wiper off if you're that concerned about it. You can probably get a fill plug from the dealer too.
