Just wanted to share my pics and experiences from this past Labor Day weekend at Lime Rock Park, CT. My buddies and I camped at the track, made new friends, "roughed" it out, and watched a s*** ton of racing.
First we pitched tents and established camp. We called our camp "Wasted Click."
Just one of the things that happen when you have two engineers and an electrician in your party: we had a wifi cantenna that enabled us to connect to AP's miles away with good signal to noise ratio to boot. This allowed us to have wireless internet at Wasted Click.
Here's some of our neighbors. Whoever said Lotuses aren't practical didn't try hard enough. If a guy in a Lotus Seven can bring enough essentials to go camping, then who needs SUVs?
This is why I love camping at the track. Your neighbors are friendly car people who are very sociable.
Camp Wasted Click was then flanked by some British cars. We met Dave, a British expat, who drove the Jag XJR. Next to my car was a couple who drove in a gorgeous '63 Daimler SP250 which was powered by a HEMI V-8. Also joining the party is another neighbor who drove a Jaguar XKR 100.
We entertained ourselves at night by setting up our own theater at Wasted Click. We used a white sheet as a screen. We used a regular office projector, a small sub w/ speakers, a DVD player, and an inverter hooked up to a car battery. This was our first run at it. The next time we set camp, we'll have a small generator for juice and a surround sound amp.
Being that it was a vintage racing weekend, we deemed it appropriate to watch the 1976 film Gumball Rally. It was a big hit with the neighbors.
More pics to follow!
