My Racing Story(long)

About two weeks ago, a friend and I were coming back from class on the way home when a Civic started riding my ass. So we get to the next stop light and I notice it's only an EX and sounded like it only had a muffler and maybe an intake. So I tell him I'll race because I know my 2.0 MP3 with only a cone filter can hang with if not right out beat a 1.8 EX w/ exhaust and an intake. So we get going and I take a big lead,...about 3 car links. Then he comes up right beside me, waves, then blows my doors off. He completely handed my ass to me. Well my friend is laughing histaricaly at me and I'm trying to think what happened. I thought must be header or nitrous because I didn't hear a turbo. So I forget about it and drown my sarrows over 2 kegs of beer during a party at my place the friday before the Auburn/Alabama game. Fast forward to today. I'm coming home from class again and a 2nd gen Toyota MR2 zooms up behind me. He says he wants to race, so I tell him after the next light b/c I know there is a two lane with some heavy curves that I'll blow his ass away in. So we take off and all of a sudden I hear a loud "TSSSSST"! Then just as I realized he had the turbo, he blew me completely away. Very embarrassing! But, I start to catch him in the curve, then I pass as I hear his tires chirping while my Dunlops are holding as tight as glue. Then the straight again and he handed my ass to me. Anyways, we pull into the gas station and we introduce ourselves, I look at his turbo, blah, blah, blah. He asks me if I raced a black civic a couple of weeks ago and I tell him yes a civic ate my lunch. He says it was his buddy and it was an SI. He said that he removed the emblems just for instances like that. He said he has a header, AEM fuel sys., Intake, exhaust, the works. This gave me a great relief knowing this. I was starting to think EX's could beat this car with ease. To this day, I cant get a Civic EX to race me,...I think they know better. :D

just so you know, the civic has a 1.6 liter engine. Yeah it would be a good race between the MP3 and EX. I also think that it is bad ass that you passed that MR2 in a corner. That is using the MP3's full potential. Dangerous but the thing to do when you have an MP3. You should try autocrossing. Those cars are amazing in the autocross. Just ask MP3girly.

well, a good friend of mine that owns a 98 ex, has aem intake, some catback system, and when i got the MHP intake at first, we did like 10 runs, 6 from 0mhp and the other 4 while running at 40 or around. Anyway, i smoked his ass so bad all 10 times, and believe me, hes a good driver. But of course, if that was a badgeless Si, our mp3 is DOOMED!

I thought the civics had either a 1.6 or 1.8. My wife owns one, but again I've never cared enough about civics to pay attention to what size engine it has. It is a 2000 Civic EX. I'll have to look tomarrow. There wasn't any traffic so that's the reason I took the corner so fast. Once I heard his blow off valve hissing at me I knew it was over. It was fun though. He had never seen an MP3 before mine, I told him he wouldn't see that many,...especially a yellow one. He said that he noticed the sway bars when I passed him in the curve. I think I'm going to have to get used to getting my ass handed to me in the straights until I can put more money in the car. Till then, we own the corners! I'm gonna try to get into some autocross when I move to Dallas next month. Sounds like a lot of fun. :D

good races man. the last gen civics had a 1.6l the new ones have a 1.7 and the new si will have a 2.0 with 160 horse. damn there goes the ricer 100h/l comments.

hey ben, how long until you move to dallas? I live in Ft. Worth, not too far away. I just moved here this summer so I only know a little of what there is to do. I do know of a couple drag strips and street racing spots. Where in dallas are you moving?

hey initialRes, im like 15min from the ftworth area, and i dunno a single place for some import meeting, mind if u hook me up with some locations?

by the way, we can organize a meeting with u, ben, jag and linux! i have already met jag in arlington.

yeah that would be cool. I know of one place where people meet. No actual racing goes on there, just people meet then drive to races. It got busted pretty bad two weeks ago by the cops so I am not sure if it still goes on. The place is off of rufe snow by I believe highway 820. They usually meet in a hobby lobby parking lot or the big lot across the street.

I still don't know why the cops broke it up so bad. All people do is talk in a parking lot. I was there talking with some people, in my car, and the cop pulls up and starts yelling at me. He said that I am not allowed to stop in any parking lots in that town. I don't see why I can't talk in a parking lot. I didn't argue with him because he wasn't giving me a ticket so I wasn't going to push the subject. I might go out there this weekend but I don't know if anything will be there.

You don't know of any places in dallas or Ft. Worth? That really sucks. Damn if we were in Houston, I would show you some sweet places. I will try to find some other places and let you know.

well... maybe jag knows of a few places, the guy blew off some ford motors, at least thats what he told me, wonder where he did it....

man, im dying for some forced induction system for our cars! right now im researching onto superchargers, but seems like our engines would do better with a turbo

Razhael, do you have an MP3? They do need FI, or at least a little more power. Everything else is going for those cars except the power. Mazda sorta cheated you guys out of that with 2 catalytic converters and other such nonsense. I love those cars but I just don't see why they aren't fast. They should be but they don't move in a straight line, but turbo should do the trick.

im waiting till march 10 next year, if after that date theres nothing out there for our cars, im done with it. I will prabably trade it in for a RSX-S or take a look at that Toyota Matrix (i know, call me crazy!)

hahah toyota matrix... But it's your car, get what you like. The RSX S is nice. I am a honda guy but that car needs help. Nice engine, great interior, but the exterior needs some work. It BADLY needs new rims and a drop. I think mazda and honda should blend the looks and handling of the MP3 with the power and interior of the RSX (then again, the MP3 interior is pretty bad ass). I'm sure parts will come out for the MP3. It just needs time. The celica doesn't even have a strong market yet.

well, thats what has me thinking on the matrix :D celicas have been out for a while (the new ones of course) and still no turbo, or at least they got one but for $6000 ... seems like some issues with high compression pistons and not much room in the engine bay... but i will keep my trusty mp3 for a while, unless they develope a turbo, that would change a "while" for a "lot of time"

Hey guys. I'll be moving to Dallas in 3 1/2 weeks. I'll be there on the 20th. I can't wait. I was stationed at Ft.Hood and my wife has always lived in Dallas. We moved back here for me to go back to college. But now we miss the big city pretty bad, so we are coming back. We will live with her parents in Mesquite until we find a place probably somewhere near Arlington. I wouldn't mind staying with her parents. They are real partiers,...hot tub, keg fridge, all kinds of toys. They are crazy. But I'm transferring to UTA to finish college. I guess we can get together sometime after new years. :D

ben, what do u plan to study if u go to UTA?
im probably transfering there next summer

UTA, that's cool. Right now I am at TCU in Ft. Worth. It is a nice area but I still don't know what to do, but I will keep trying.

I was in aerospace engineering till the beginning of this semester. There just aren't many jobs out there, and if you do find one, you have to move where they tell you to b/c the jobs are few and far between. Then Lockheed Martin got the F-22 contract, but I've heard bad things about Lockheed Martin. And UTA doesn't have aerospace engineering. But now I'm in civil engineering. I should be graduating in about a year and a half. I'm ready to start making the big bucks! :D

Isn't TCU's mascot the horny toad? I remember that from that old football movie. Do you have to go to church or anything like that to go there since it's Tex. Christian University? I've always been curious about that.

hahaha, actually it is the horned frog. Yeah it is a wierd mascot and I ALWAYS hear jokes about it, but that's alright. No we don't have to go to church. This school is actually pretty laid back. It isn't like a private high school. We don't have uniforms and we are allowed to have girls in our dorms! Lucky us! haha It is a good school. You should come see it sometime.

well, i know TCU has some toad as a mascot, dunno more about the topic, thats a nice choice of a career u got there in civil engineering
