My problem with Kanye and Jamie Foxx

I assume you've heard the new "Goldigger" song by Kanye West. The thing that irritates the hell out of me is that they always say it's featuring Jamie Foxx.

Here's the deal.....the song is Kanye rapping with a portion of a Ray Charles song playing in the background over and over and over again. Jamie Foxx isn't doing anything!!! He played Ray Charles in a movie. The thing is, the song's title/artist info doesn't mention Ray Charles at all. WTF?

If anyone saw the VMAs on MTV, they performed. And what did Jamie Foxx do? He said something at the beginning, and then ran around on stage for the entire song doing absolutely nothing other than unbuttoning his shirt, while Ray Charles' vocals played from a track.

It probably doesn't irritate anyone else, but.....

RANT OVER.

i didn't even know jamie was in the song, lol, i still like it though...

That's what I'm talking about!!!

I like the song, but the false advertising is frustrating.

I'm such a dork. :)

It was my understanding that he just sang the background vocals, but I had no idea it was a Ray Charles song. Eh, not that big of a Kanye fan anyway. He contradicts himself in so many ways and got uber-arrogant way to quick. His Grammy speech was lame as hell. Plus he trys to pull off that s*** where you wear jeans with a suit jacket, which now everyone mimicks. So whenever I go to the club now, all I see are Gotti boys and Kanye Clones...makes me laugh.

WHAT??? that song is bad ass!! (yes)

I'm with Jcell that song is hot now. And yes it is a 'sample' from a ray charles song, but Jamie foxx does actually sing it.

There's no way. I have the Ray Charles Ultimate Collection and "I've Got A Woman" sounds exactly like what is playing. I've heard Jamie Foxx and he sounds nothing like Ray Charles. I don't know how anyone could replicate another person's voice to where it sounds exactly the same, especially a voice as unique as Ray Charles.

I haven't heard the album version, so it is possible that the radio version and the album versions are different. So maybe on the album Foxx does sing.

Didn't Miami Vice start that?

I wish I was famous so I could wear some dumb ass s*** and watch everybody start doing the same thing because it's "cool".
I'd wear rainbow afros and jeans with one of the legs ripped off, exposing my sock suspenders. (silly)

It is Jamie Fox singing the song. Ray Charles has never been released to be used as a sample. Kanye really wanted Ray but when he heard Jamie sing it he was amazed at how much he sounded just like Ray Charles so he used Jamie Fox as the vocal. it is not Ray Charles singing..

You ever heard an opera singer? You can do some amazing things with a voice once trained properly. I'm positive he had lessons and did actually perform some of this song, and some in the movie as well.
Now the VMA's...no he did not sing at all that I could tell. He rarely had the mic near his mouth.

There is a thing called protools. It'll make you sound how ever you want.

Hmmmm....I did not know that! Well sorry to down Jamie Foxx if that is really him singing, it just sounds uncannily like Ray Charles. I even took out my cd and listened to it. He even has the quirky sounds Charles does with his voice. Strange.

Jamie Foxx is actually a really good singer and is featured on a few songs. One that comes to mind is "slow jam" by twista

Oh I know he's a singer, and a pretty good one, but I'm questioning whether or not he's actually singing on Goldigger. It doesn't sound like it....just comparing his voice on the Twista song to this one...sounds nothing alike.
