My new MSProtege

I just picked it up today, everyone seems to love the color. I've been reading the board for a little but have been in the shadows. I guess now is a good time to say hello since I'm a new Mazda owner. Great car overall and had to take it over the big motor, big boost, and big intercooler of the Neon. Anyhow, it's hard not to take it past 3-3500 rpms religously and no WOP. During test drives I know the break in rules don't usually get practiced and it kinda bothers me but I'm a freak like that.

I was wondering if other owners or knowledgeable people can help me. I guess my RR seat didn't "settle" well and it was "popping" out like when you sit it pushes in but when you get out it pops out. I gave it a good whack and it has stayed "settled". Anyone have a butterfly like this? Also, I know on most cars the radiator overflow bottle has an extended hose to drain but the MSP has just a nipple. Am I missing one or is it just like that?

Anyone have any bad "lot" damage? I did a final check on my car and the RR door had two small dings with possible paint damage. I know PDR can take them out but I hope the paint isn't messed up too badly. I don't trust dealerships or their sublets to colormatch the car, especially a new pearl like this orange. Hopefully they will give me an appearance allowance. We'll see.

Anyone talk to their service manager about FMIC, BOV, TT, boost gauge, down pipe, boost controller (ofcourse no, but worth a try). What about tranny re-inforcement. I've never owned another Mazda and haven't read up on the previous Proteges but from what I read/hear the tranny is weak. So I know I can get it beefed up but the good old question of ruining warranty is there.

Also, the steering wheel is slightly off and that upsets me. I'm really picky and I hate to have to bring it back to service and b****. I really don't like that because I know the floor manager but if it wasn't for me knowing him I probably wouldn't be writing to you people right now.

Oooh! I also helped my friend out and got him dibs on the next black one the dealer gets.

Thanks to anyone who helps and I'm glad to be here. Later.

man you are really lucky.... how bout you send it here and let me save you from the trouble of trying to break it in...please???:)

man, sounds like your car was less than perfect on delivery, that would piss me off......especially after having waited so long....

did u get yours from irvine? theres another thread about an orange car in the showroom there that had a problem with the rear right seat popping up...no one else (other owners) have reported it though

how many miles were on it when you picked it up?

and if it is indeed the car from the showroom in irvine, someone with a deposit on a black one was denied a test drive on the orange, so maybe any damages occured at the docks...

I feel lucky

(((dominoy2k1))) - Hahaha! No prob. you can break it in while I'm at work =)

(((slug420))) - I thought the MSP has been out for 3 months now but the dealer told me they've only had it for 3 weeks. I got really lucky with it. I was in a bad deal with a hyundai and my boss new the guy at Mazda. So one day after work I stopped by Mazda just to see what they got. The spicy orange was just calling my name since I've read the SCC comparison about 10 times and have been on here for a few weeks. It was the Cush Mazda of Escondido. Someone was going to buy it on the 24th and even test drove it but their "insurance claim" hasn't gone through so I guess they said goodbye and come when you have money. I'm kinda mad that it isn't perfect (rare to find any new car without some kind of scratch) but I only had to wait a few days because I wasn't really watching the release since I had a new car. I didn't even have a deposit, and it's weird because all I've been reading is how people are waiting and searching. But, Service will be seeing me though. I thought it was going to have 14 miles but in less than a week they managed to put on 10 more miles. I wanted to raise some hell but some people think it's overkill and childish. So after my test drive it had 25 on it. I already have 95 in less than a day. I drive so much I had to extend the warranty also.

I don't know where the damage came from but I didn't even check it over until I was leaving. Their dent pro is going to take them out and hopefully it won't leave little ripples.

Talk to you later.

i test drove one at irvine mazda today ti was soo fun i took it to redline like everytime, it has way more power than the gti turbo

you were allowed to test drive the showroom one? who let you drive it? also, any word about our cars?

If you have problems with the car take it back to the dealer and get them to fix it. If you don't and there is a later problem Mazda could wash their hands of it since they did not know about it. Besides, that is what the warranty is for.
