My NA build to 200whp!

nice thread... im subbin too to keep an eye out on the competition... just remember its 100whp per Liter... so you need only ~199.5whp so idk if that .5 is going to help...

get a DYNO soon so we know where your at!!

The .5 will help since it is pretty hard to squeeze a single HP out of are engines. I am scared to do a dino on my to only see that im at a 100HP or something. I need to find a place that even has a dino in my area, I will see what I can do though.

I found burnsstainless's website and it has some good info on exhaust theory.

http://www.burnsstainless.com/TechArticles/Theory/theory.html

I am going to try and contact him to see what he can do for me.

The price may scare you, but bare in mind they probably make the best exhaust parts in the world...

you want a 4-1 race header, tuned to make power in the top end (you'll sacrifice some midrange...)... to achieve the kind of horsepower you want i'd be looking at a 2.5in exhaust system (which may sound large, and it may hurt your bottom end, but it will make the top end sing...).

You'll also want a merge collector (they'll calculate everything you need on this...).

It'll look awesome in the engine bay, their welds are sexy as....

any thoughts on what you are going to do on the intake side? custom manifold? quads?

details my friend, details!

I have thought about what I am going to do with the intake manifold. I have read through many times on weather the 626 manifold is the best or if the single runner from PG is the best and honestly it has just made my head spin and everybody seems to have there own opinion on which is best which doesn't get me anywhere. So if you have any info on which would be best for NA that would be rad. I would like to make my own custome intake manifold but I know the design of it would need to be just as exact as the exaust manifold, so if you know any specs on that it would help alot also.

So other than that I am just going to buy all the bolt on's for now(adjustable cam gears, Integral camshafts, standalone EMS, light weight pulleys, and port and polish my head) and see where that gets me HP whise when the dust settles. Then I will begin to do more research on what I need to do to get the last bit of HP I need.

Honestly Search the User Name InstallShield2 and you will fine threads that will have wealth of knowledge.

the PG single runner *is* the 626 manifold.

As for design, i have detailed in other threads the mathematics required for calculating the length of the runners.. like the exhaust, it depends on where you want the power to occur, how much you want to get, and how much you are willing to spend.

Fabbing up the basic manifold could be done yourself if you are experienced with welding and basic design...the tricky part is mounting the fuel rail etc..which would probably need to be done professionally to get it fitted etc.

for off the shelf, already available manifolds, the 626 mani is the best bet, but its far from "ideal".

Quads would be a useful alternative, helping to fatten up the midrange (which you will lose when you start pushing the rev limit up)....

theres lots of options, depends on how much trouble you want to go to, how much you want to spend, and what you are willing to compromise...

Yah, I started to look through his threads but they all have so many pages to them its hard to find the actual useful info mixed in with all the jibber jabber.

Trust me read through it all. Every page of every thread till you find your answers you need for your build, sometime they go off subject, just skim through those post . There were a few members that back then that were hardcore NA. Any they were attempting this goal without half the aftermarket support we half. IIRC he reached the 197 with a stock IM...... mind you he was runnin a 13:1 comp ratio. Dig deep you find almost eveything you need on this forum.

There was some speculation in that thread about the FP. Just in case anyone was wondering, the FP block is 9.5mm shorter and the rods a bit shorter too. I think the rod ratio is 1.52. FS rods won't fit in FP block (just ask flinhawiian).

Does any one know where I could get some nice high performence piston rings for my new pistons like chromeolly ones or something similer? Something that could take alot more abuse than the stock piston rings

Contact some of these guys on the forum.....

Im sure LordWorm will chime in sooner or later......

*chimes in*

Yeah contact the AV's... the pistons i'm looking at come with rings, and they'll do me...... haven't investigated searching for special uber rings....

Guess I can't "suboost" to this thread since it's all about NA :p

I'll have to subaspirated...or something...lol

Anyway...It's great to see the NA challenge help to spawn individual build threads...Good Luck man...be sure to include pics with your updates!

Ps...Need parts?..Hit up our own Authorized Vendors and AMMs...Checkout the handy link in my sig: AV/AMM Directory

Thanks! Will do! As far as the parts go I have looked at alot of the vendors on this site and I can't find anything else but stock piston rings

Very ominous goal. I remember my old N/A goals back in 03/04 when I clipped 160whp. You are in for a VERY costly journey my friend. To break 150whp, count on 10.5+ compression, very aggressive set of custom cams, and some smart head-work. Stand-alone will be required without question. It took me to my third motor to realize that you are way better off going boost or KLZE swap. It all costs about the same.

If you ever want to do any research here are the old N/A guru's.
