my msp vs my brother new wrx 02

wrx, sorry. unless you want the whole interior package etc etc...then go with the msp

AWD is not invincible. 20% drivetrain loss is not uncommon in AWD configuration. wake up people and smell the coffee.

On subaru's awd they have a center vicisous coupling clutch, this similar to a torque converter. And yes wrx are heavy. the reason why they have a higher 1/4 mile time or 0-60 is they launch better and the way they are launch are not for everyday driving unless u want to go visit subaru dealership everyday. So with launching that is going to preserve the transmission, msp and wrx are about the same. All cars have weaknesses you just have to know where its' weakness are. hehehe

Funny thing is most of the comments are probably from those who haven't driven both. Just about any other AWD can't be launched by reving and dumping the clutch, except the STI. When you get a launch right with some crafty clutch slippage you will feel like someone launched you from a rocket.
I have a 3" catback on my WRX and that might make a small difference when the turbo spools but it starts around 2500-2600, and by 3000 it is on all the way. That sucker pulls HARD, and I have already dispached a few takers who doubted.
The car is deceptive though to, at 120km/hr it feels like 70km/hr, where as I thought the MSP felt like 130km/hr at 80.
I know the MSP has more impressive handling figures but the WRX still can hold it's own in the twisties for sure.
As far as the interior goes, the MSP gets the edge with the sound system but the WRX takes it back with the seats, otherwise they are =

Having driven both myself, it waould be a hard choice for me. the AWD is enticing. The aestetics of the MSP, and intrigue are attention getters (not to mention boost!!). The WRX pulls nice in 3rd gear (so does my car), and it feels good. The MSPis quick too. If you drive it right from a roll, it has a better chance. I killed a WRX a couple of weeks ago while rolling on the highway.

Try boosting at 13psi on our cars. :D You do get pushed back a bit when you put your foot in it.

Get pushed back even further when the engine explodes and puts a piston through the hood, The WRX can take almost 2 Bars of boost. Don't get into a boost contest with that car!

The stock WRX is not fast, Yes I have driven them and raced them. In stock form my MP3 turbo at 6 PSI wins. Not by much though.

Stock WRX is not fast? It runs low 14's stock.

BTW...this thread is moving due to the more "racing" oriented content. Thanks all for your understanding.

I know it should be and if from a dead stop you go all out, AKA drag race, then yes it is qucik, however it is not hard to catch that car of boost.

I was not impressed. I'll put it this way, there is no way that car is hitting a 14 second quart miles with me behind the wheel, it just wasn't that fast.

The thing is with the wrx's. For a grand you can make sereiously more power. Up-pipe, Down-pipe and an ecu re-flash, and you've got somewhere around 50 more poneys if not more.

yes, the modifications are endless for the wrx, whereas the msp is sweet, but come on, we all know if you dont drive an rx7, its about 100 percent harder to find parts for your mazda...just look through a compact car mag and see...**** stock...how many of us would stay stock in either car? spend 5k on a wrx and spend 5k on a msp and see who wins.

amen razorp5 brother, parts are hard to come by for us msp users. And as far as wrx is fast that's true as long as it in boost like any other turbo car. WRX is a nice car and I'm glad US is finally getting what the world has been having for like a decade at least. great car i would say and 2 of my friends have it. msp?? no one has i think that speaks for itself

I think both cars are to be respected.
They both have their week points
msp ( engine)
wrx ( 4wd)
But sometimes the weak points are the strong points.
Basically respect what you have and live with it ..

How is 4WD a weakpoint?

4WD is a weak point. I'll point some out that's pretty blarring.

4wd requires more torque since the engine is turning 4 wheels instead of 2

4wd drivetrains weights more = heavier car, I hope u know what this means in racing

4wd drivetrains are complicated = more component losses = more hp and tq loss from crank to wheel
