My MSP vs. GSR

GSR/Type R have great top end. I think a turbo car would have advantages from a stop due to torque but up top at high speeds (80 +)...you should be boosting a decent amount to safely take out the Hondas.

yea....the GSR's are mostly all about the top end. they way the tranny is geared and the little jump in hp from the regular v-tec teg.

30 hp over a non vtec b18a-b is a "lil" hp? the gsr is cool but the type r motor or b18c5 is a monster, my nephew has a 97 civic coupe with a jdm type r motor and its sick, all stock right now but it still ran high 14s....

I'm currently debating the purchase of the 03.5 MSP and after the test drive, it kinda left me scratching my head. I recently ( last weekend ) traded my 96 GSR for an 04 Xterra. The car had Aem intake, Apexi exhaust, Skunk2 Intake manifold, and DC header. The car dynoed at just under 170 whp. Yes it was a blast to drive, I could rip the shyt out of the car in 2nd and 3rd gear.

When i finally got to drive the Speed, at first I was like damn, it's got some nice pull in low rpm. But upon driving longer and longer, it started to act funky. At higher rpm's it didn't have that instant response that I was use to with the GSR. Also It had lots of throttle surge when getting on and off the gas. Over all though it was a pleasing drive.

I didn't hear any of the sounds or rattles that other owners are talking about, but I guess that's because the car only has 12k miles on it. I'm doing some serious thinking before I purchase the car, yes I love the look and feel that I got while driving it, not to mention the sweet price. But I need to insure myself that if these problems start to arise, what is going to be my response, right now it would be, ( shyt this is a new car, why am I having these problems. ).

Hopefully I will have made my decision by Friday. If I don't buy the speed, i'll probably hold out until Jan or Feb and get a WRX.

00Si, with B20swap not fully-built Turbo with 150shot beat a 92MR2 Turbo running 14lbs of boost Fully built with 100shot, by like 1-2car lenghs. The driver of the MR2 was mad" they raced for $250.

Both the Honda GSR and Type R are great cars no matter that the hater say. Honda used the same B series engines with VTEC for a decade starting in the early 90's in the US and late 80's in Japan. Now, other manufactures are catching on wth the valve timing technology.
I would be driving a Honda if it wasn't that the deal on the MSP was too good to pass up and I also wanted a 4 door.
