thanks guys. i'm just trying to find a way to clean up the chips really well. i know it can be done, i'm just unsure if i can do it myself or if there is anyone in my area that can do it.

i think i got it off soon enough... i don't see or feel any clear coat damage other than the chips.

ok since I said it before (and no one seemed to pay attention.

eggs will not eat your paint - end of story

I had my old Jetta egged a few times, during the summer, and its DRIED COMPLETELY (woke up late moring, egged around 3am roughly by my calculations).

no damage to the paint besides shell impact marks. Besides dried egg being hard as hell to get off of the paint (had to wash the car about 3 times in a row and claybar it to remove the residue), it will not cause any addition harm. I wish I had pictures to show. I might have some @ the house still, maybe Ill look. I can show what the damage looks like on a BLACK car.

its not pretty...

the shell, however, tears through the clear+paint during impact causing "spiderweb" looking marks to form on the impact area.

sry to hear about some punks doing that to a mazda. on another note - mazda paint FTW to hear that an eggshell can scratch the paint. if that can stratch it i shouldn't breathe on mine.

LMAO - you have no idea what an eggshell can do to paint. Eggshells are actually strong as all hell. It wouldnt matter if it was mazda paint or not... any vehicle's coat will be damaged by eggshell. Take my VW for example.

Lesson here - doesnt matter what kind of vehicle you have, try not to get egged.

Yeah I just searched on the internetz and there are more websites that say that they do substantial damage then minor. Also several stories of kids getting killed for egging the wrong vehicles.

Bestest advice everz..

It's possible that the egg could eat your clearcoat if you leave it on for an extended period (I'm just speculating). Since you washed yours off the next morning, you were fine. It probably won't eat it in just a few hours, it's not like it's a concentrated acid.

The egg shells cutting your paint is believable. But the spider web (swirling) probably comes from washing the car after the egging and rubbing the little shell bits around on the paint. Probably only way to avoid this is pick off as many little bits as you can by hand, clay bar and spray.

That sucks it happened - I hope you can get it fixed asap! =)
I've heard of product that fills little clear coat scratches. Search around on the internet if it just looks like clear coat damage.

speculation @ best... Ive seen more than my fair shair of eggings and not once seen any clearcoat damage due to the egg white+yolks...

Swirl marks and spider webbing are 2 different things. I am not speaking of swirl mark scratches but simply the impact area. in 99% of the case, the eggshell is completely dropped from the car after impact. A simple spray down will remove any particles. Find a beater car and throw an egg on it and wash it down, youll see what I mean. :p

thanks guys. any thoughts on putting a decal in that spot. it'd be sort of a long one... from about an inch from the door jam over, to cover the chips. i've asked it like 12 times, haha. maybe people are avoiding the question...
