The Master Plan

Performance: 2.5" turboback exhaust and some basic engine management (something like an AFC, not going all out. I'm only looking for 200 RWHP, I'm already at 180 with the FMIC & intake)

Exterior: scrap the stock spoiler, replace it with a *SMALL* CF wing. Like 2-4". NOT rice because the car is RWD ;). Subtle/simple red vinyl stripes on the sides; something like the NISMO stripe but obviosly not that. Cross-drilled rotors & red painted calipers. Replace side mirrors with smaller, CF ones. Not doing a CF hood because the stock hood is aluminum and is already quite light. Of course if I found one for a great price or somehow got a whole bunch of money, I'd get one :)

Interior: Hard Dog "Deuce" rollbar, black, center mounted supports (pic). Pull out the stock double din 6 disc changer. Replace with a simple but good-quality head unit (something like a mid-priced Alpine perhaps). Single-DIN dual guage holder above the radio. Boost and wideband O2. Modify the stock oil pressure & water temp gauges for more accuracy (there's instructions out there, it's fairly simple). Replace stock front speakers with 6.5" components (looking at the Polk/MOMO 6.5" components, but still very undecided). Build a custom box for a single 8" sub that will be molded onto the rear deck between the seats. Make a piece of fabric with the "Miata" logo embroidered in red, with velcro attachments to help conceal the sub when parked. Pull the spare tire, and build a false floor type enclosure for the amp(s) (haven't decided on whether to get a 2 channel and a mono sub amp, or to get a 4-channel and bridge 2 channels to drive the sub. Space is a minor concern as the spare tire well isn't huge, but it's plenty big for some leeway with this project). Red neons under the seat or dash.

That's all I can think of for now. Everything is definitely a possibility as the entire project shouldn't cost more than $2500-$3000. Of course it will be built up over time.

What do you think? Any comments, suggested additions/deletions/subsitutions, or complaints are wanted :)

Justin...WING!!!(omg) say it aint so..yes it's rwd but damn it, you arent taking it on the autobahn, dont ruin its clean lines. your car is the one that seriously made me want to get a miata. please dont give it a wing. i beg of you

Nice plan. A slight drop in ride height will make it look very nice. About 1" or so, not too much.

NOT a cheap bolt-on "shopping cart handle" ricer wing. Something SMALL, only 2 or 3 inches high, relatively subtle and CF.

Don't worry, I'm not going to rice this thing out. I just don't like the way the stock spoiler looks, and also do not like the way an NB Miata looks without a spoiler.

IMO it only needs a drop in the rear, the front looks great @ stock height. Another thing to add to teh plan!

i know you wont put on a full on ricer dual layer wing, im just saying. my initial feelings against a wing on any car except a dedicated track car are a big fat NO!!! but because i trust you, ill wait to pass judgement until i see it

side note any meets coming up?

Love the way it sits now looks good I wouldn't put a wing on it but it might look ok. show us a pic of the wing you want.

I'm still looking for one that is what I want. I have a mental picture of the "perfect" (IMO) wing, but can't find it!

And if I can't find it, the stock spoiler stays.

Justin,

Sounds like it should looks great! I think that I agree with the CF vs. AL hood, but that car with CF hood, mirrors, trunk and spoiler w/you wheels...yum!

Are you thinking a lower (height) spoiler like a GT-R (whatever they call em) style but lower, or a drag-type spoiler that extends back a bit?

Good luck!
