My KLZE Build Journal

Cool job man, quite a few guys have done it here in Quebec Canada. It's starting to get as popular as turboing the Fs. Good work and you'll love it and the sound it makes, soooo sweet :)

I love this forum, but iam never around because i drive truck. Anyway, iam subbing because i have also been thinking about doing this swap. I hope you document every step.

So why would you need a parts car if the only thing needed other then the ecu is half shafts?

dont you need the mounts, transmission, linkages, etc. ? it'd also be simpler since he'll have those parts on hand without having to hunt them down

Mounts are the same as far as ive read. Shifter linkage im unsure about though.

- Complete V6 engine and transmission with the half-shaft(or joint shaft?) plus uncut wiring harness, ECU and VAF(airflow sensor)

- Radiator and piping, either a MX-6 one or our custom aluminium V6 radiator for Protege(made by Ron Davis). If you use a MX-6 rad, you'll need to make some brackets. Our V6 rad fit bolt-on.

Everything fits bolt-on, you'll need to adapt the wiring to the dash harness and fuse box. You'll also need to adapt fuel line and exhaust. It's all pretty easy.
Two things won't work or do strange things, the tach and the temp gauge, so get after-market ones.

This is coming from DOMSPUN, someone who has actually performed this a few times

Heres a few links that have been posted before.

subbin.

I've accually concidered doing this in my 1st gen. alot easier in mine though conpared to a 3rd gen. good luck.

here is my question, how does the v6 respond to boost??? does it have issues like the FS-de has with rods?

300 can be done with about 7psi on a ZE (10:1) and about 9psi on a DE (9.2:1)... this is with a well tuned stand alone like the MegaSquirt I built and tuned on mine.

A local guy made 296whp on his FMU'd DE on 9.6psi poorly tuned (pig rich).
this quoted off another forum. This is on still on stock rods. I believe. Not familiar with whats good for turbo as I dont spend alot of time doing research on the subject. But this looks alot better than the FS

for boost, i believe millenia S rods and injectors are recommended for anything more than 7psi.

Ze rods arent the strongest but the fact that you've already got 2.5 litres of displacement means you can get good numbers on lower boost. What transmission are you going to be using? Did the engine arrive yet?

So I've been thinking for the past week and half about this project, And I havent done nearly enough research on this. I mean I have but, but I like beeing 100% sure about things before I commit on spending any kind of money. I mean it took me 2 month to choose what kind rims I wanted to buy. I was setting myself up for disaster with how I was approaching this. The engine wasnt ordered because of these concerns. In any case things will be delayed. Which Im pissed about. but I just need to be sure. Next time Im on this thread I will hopefully have pictures of progress.
