my drag times are nowhere near the ones posted here

You have a lot to learn about drag racing. My first time ever I ran a 14.4, (in my old Cobra), by my third trip to the strip I was running 13.8s with terrible reaction times. You just have to get better at reacting to the light, hooking up the tires and shifting. It's hard to hook up with FWD.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this in the thread as I didn't read it all but, reaction time means nothing when it comes to ET. ET doesn't start until the car moves. So you can sit at the light for 20 seconds and still run a 14.5 ET.

True, I suppose i'm just too fond of bracket racing. I can't wait to get this car ready to go to the track, I won't be hunting for 12s like in my Bullitt but a high 14 would make me happy.

look at your sixty ft times, gotta get off the line faster without spinning. others were complaining about the track not being prepped right but its all about heat and air pressure. how much tire pressure were you running in the tires?

AGREED, wheel spin, wheel hop, both extremely reduced by lowering air pressure

haha i apparently missed some GTP banter here...
hell ya lol, i loved that rust bucket.
i had mine laying around as a potential project car, but im giving up on that and putting it back together to sell. the MSP seems like it has rustier hardware on average, but EVERYTHING on the GTP is rusty. brake lines, crossmembers, the pinch welds on the frame rails for jacking... you name it.
I used to drive a GM vehicle, and I don't miss it compared to my MSP.
i went from GTP to MSP to maxima, and the MSP was by far my favorite. by far. im hoping some suspension mods will improve the maxima, but the chassis on that car is garbage. the suspension tuning is not great, but the GTP's was ******* terrible.
Ran a 14.4 @98mph in my dad's GTP....right after i blew my tranny up in my MSP the same night...lol
who was your dad? did he hang out with the conncgp guys on the pike at all? haha, i had a rep with those guys... me and my buddy tried to remove the SC pulley with a standard puller - which doesnt work, and we bent the ******* s*** out of the pulley. so my nickname with them was "pringles" for the resulting aftermath. and i blew the trans in my GTP, but fortunately, not the mazda. the 4t65e-hd goes at 120,000 miles like clockwork.

dude what kinda rims are those? they look sick as hell

they look like from a rx8
Weather also makes an enormous impact on each run, wait until it gets below 40 and go back to the track.
yes weather makes a difference but below 40 isnt your answer because if you must know weather too cold can also affect you, because the colder the track is the more problems your gonna have hooking.....i would say to get the most out of it is to go out in nice weather thats cool not 40 lol!!! and take it on some good tires, lower the tire pressure but if you have a problem spinning then play with the car either by launching and feathering it or what i do is stall it to where i want it and ride the clutch just out the hole and then hit it hard, cause quarter mile racing is my specialty and i have a few toys of my own besides what i do for a living i run a couple of the cars that i work on ranging from street cars to race cars weather it be quarter mile, eight mile, 6.50 index,5.50 index, etc my dad races in 10.5 outlaw so the track is my hobby/occupation etc.. lol!! i had a jeep srt-8 and when i first took it i ran a 13.6 and by the end of the night i got a 13.05 at 103.6 out of it all stock right out of the factory and i sold it about 8 months ago and the guy who has it now is a client and his best is 13.2 and that was only once he runs cosistant 13.4 which thats where the driver comes into play, also have a lightning that a ran a 12.89 but is currently getting built, i ran a 14.21 just with little bolt ons and 8 psi in the protege when i had the stocker and havent taken it since until im done with it, 94 mustang with a 347 stroker all motor 11.4, a 1970 nova ss with a 400 small block running a 1050 dominator and a two speed powerglyde on a 300 shot single stage and my best is a 8.90 so i guess you could say racing is in my veines lol!!!!!

how fast were you planning on going with 6.5psi and an untuned motor? with stock tire pressure? and a full tank of gas? and 2 subs in the trunk?

considering you probably are not even making 200hp I think you should be happy with your times considering all the extra weight, tire pressure and lack of boost.

Ditch the full tank and subs, lower the psi in the tires a bit and set turbo boost to 8-9psi with good fuel and tuning with an afc or better and you will be running in the 14s all day :)

lol....nah my dad is old school doesn't hang down there...maybe in the 1960's!!! Haha but he still loves his toys and likes to go fast....i performed all the mods to his car myself, we ended up buying the correct puller with the pulley kit--and it was still a b****! But anyway ya he has like 109K miles now pushing 12-13 psi... runs nice, can't beat my msp though...lol
