My Cruise to Cozumel

The ship was the Grandeur of the Seas. At a couple of ports we were right behind one of their larger ships, the Jewel of the Seas. That one has a basketball course and a mini golf course on the top :)

My brother had gone on one a month before with his g/f and he said there were a lot more younger people on that cruise (also Royal Caribbean) so I think it was just because it was the last of the season. The Grandeur sailed to New Orleans right afterward. They are going to cut the ship in half and widen it, and also fix the huge dent. I was surprised that they can do it in two months.

durr cant believe i didnt recognize that ship...been on it twice...very very nice ship. happy to see it comming here...means i can get those last second deals (get htem the day before for like $150 go on it) and go on that ship again. its crazy how big that ship looks by itself...then you put it next to the freedom (i think its hte biggest ship in the world) and it looks soooooo small. they are comming out with a bigger ship now. its getting so insane.

freedom had ice rink, rock climbing, many many many pools, golf, basketball, soccer, volleyball, wave simulator (for surfing and such) and soooo many other things...you could never get bored on that ship.

I liked going to the Viking Lounge. It was nice they had multiple bars, so people were spread out and it didn't feel crowded.

One bad thing was the wind at night. I would walk around on the exposed 10th deck and it would be 30mph+ wind. Most of my night pics came out all blurred, it was all I could do to stand still.

It is possible then that the trends have changed but typically RCCL, Princess, Holland America and the like usually drew an older crowd.

i dont find that true.... it was older because of the time he went. ive been on 11 RCCL cruises.... only one had majority old people... the freedom of the seas which i went on in mid oct. if you go when school is in session there will be older people....prices seem to be lower also. but during hte summer there are plenty of young people on RCCL. not your college frat kid that wants to just get drunk and hump everything that walks but respectable young people that still like to have a lot of fun.

yea i think since the voyager class of ships they have started aiming for younger and more active people... i know princess and holland america still draw the older crowd. a while back rccl did but i think that is changing. when i think of carnival i think of cheap stuff...reminds me of alabama/mississippi and walmart. while rccl reminds me of nicer stuff...like macys or saks or something. a more aware crowd. :)

oh and drock...yea the viking crows is nice...some really nice views IIRC.
the deck wind is INSANE sometimes!!! i love it! on the newer ships you can go up to the very front of the ship and stand (like in the movie titanic) and the wind there is increadable!

they are all over the islands down there....seen a few skylines in some of the places ive been. they either have crappy ass cars or really nice JDM stuff....its odd.

Nice pics...I had been on what was at the time the biggest ship in the world the Explorer of the Seas and just a few months ago was on one of their newer and bigger ships the Mariner of the Seas, had fun though, definately a better way to travle. And its nice you got to see the rocket go up...I can see them from my house though lol.

Yeah the JDM cars were in Miami. They all looked new as well. I was thinking maybe for movie props?

Maybe, but those kinda cars are all over the place down there. You were at the port...so maybe they just came in on a ship...

explorer and mariner are basically the same ship....there are cosmetic differences but they are sisterships and basically the same size. their newest and biggest is the freedom of the seas. they are comming out with a bigger one...should be out kinda soon actually.

Yeah, they were basically the same ship...there always making something bigger and better all the time, so when something is the biggest in the world its usually only at that moment, which is why I said what I did. And Carnival sucks ass, unless your a little kid. And dont even start with Disney, because thats just gay.

Nice pics. The wife and I have been on 4 cruises. They are lots of fun. Nothing better than getting up in the morning, going to the top of the ship and looking 360 degrees and seeing nothing but water.

Well let me know if you guys are planning another cruise next year. I definitely want to take a Royal Caribbean ship, and sailing out of Baltimore is cool, sailing down the Chesapeake. Whats the best time to go? Early in the season or later?

Well we went durring hurricane season because it was cheap, lol, spent the whole time worrying about the hurricane that was out there and having to go back around it and follow the hurricane home! lol, but it doesnt seem that the ships that leave from up north go to the islands as much as the ones that leave from down here do. Because 3 of the 4 places you went I coulda drove to them within 6 hours, but when you leave outa miami or port canavral you can go to either eastern caribbean(Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Martin) or western carabbean(Hati, Jamaca, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel). Ive dont both a few times and much rather perfer western. We also went durring the first week of college down here and grade school had already been in for 3 weeks and schools up north were just starting back up too so thats why all the chineese canadians and old people. Spring break time(march) is the funnest but also most expensive time to go. From Aug to Oct isnt really recomended because of hurricanes but thats when there cheap, but you also have to deal with the fact that your ship might be re-routed. Because we left from the cape last time we didnt get re-routed, but the ships leaving from miami, port everglades, and new orleans did get re-routed to less desirable locations to be out of harms way. I think we were planning another one soon but my mom is going to Hawaii in March and is spending a lot on that, but I would love to go on one without my parents and maybe with some friends. Definately better with friends...and WTF is up with singles night or singles get togethers on cruses??? Most of the time if you do find someone that you like your gonna end up figuring out that your both on vacation and live on the other side of the country and possibly the world, so again I say WTF? lol, maybe there good for just one night if ya know what I mean but its just someone else you want to be with but cant and makes you wanna just die...dont ask...I have personal problems related to this if you cant tell...lol

We went to Alaska on Holland America a few summers ago. That was an old crowd! Like, mostly dead. But, it was a cool trip, Alaska is friggin' beautiful, and my wife's grandparents paid for it, so I'll STFU as far as complaints go.

The only real bummer to it was that there were two full days at sea, where we were just on the boat, and the on boat activities, no s***, were trivia, bridge, and not dying of old age. Those two days kind of sucked!

Yet another reason why I like western carribean...no more than one day at see at a time and there are 4 stops on a 7 day cruise, compaired to 3 stops on a 7 day cruise in the eastern.
