hey ppl sooo i have a bit of a problem... my car wont start, i have the compustar security system in my car and for some reason the car wont start with the key in the ignition doing a manual start, the only way the car will turn on is if i push it while its in seccond gear then it starts uo fine im guessing its the alarm system, anyone got any idea's???? someone please help me! i have to work in the morning lol :(

have you done anything to the car lately? unplugged the bat? if you turn the key, are there any noises or clicks??

there is a chip in the key if i remember correctly. you might need to reprogram it. try the spare and see what happens

EDIT** never mind. Im tired. but yeah totalyl agree with above

yeah im tired and been up since 4:30 and was partying all weekend.

figured someone that has had a few mazdas and a P5 for 7 years and 7 months with 200700 miles on it would know better

thanks for saving me the shame.

lol thanks for your replies guys and the only recent thing ive done to my car is installing a capacator for the amp... i installed it like 4 days ago tho and it worked just fine, its strange tho like the only way it will start ritenow is if i push it in seccond gear and keep pushing on the clutch then finally it starts but otherwise nothing i turn the key and nothing you hear the sound coming from the dash but no clicking from the engine the batters is showing 12.95 volts, i think it has something to do with the alarm system its the compustar someone mentioned something about a ignition kill switch? i dunno i changed the battery in my remote lastnite and its been like this since... errr lol guess il be pushing it to work lol

you might have to reprogram the remote....but if it works to lock/unloc the car....chances are the starter is just gone

hmm i forgot to ask too whewre abouts is the starter located on the mazda protege 5 2003?

it'll be somewhere on the dirver's side lower part of the motor.....never really looked for it on this car....but it'll hit the flywheel to start it

ok thanks for all your help i have one last question lol i need to replace the belt for the alternator, any spacific way i need to go about doing this?

there's a really good how to.....it's really easy and takes about an hour with a second set of hands....replace both belts

unplug your alarm if you can then see if it starts. it happened to my accord. for soem reason the alarm went crazy. i deactivate the alarm, unlock door, get inside car, put key in ignition, car wont start, alarm goes off. So i got mad and disconnected the alarm wires and the car started up fine. but for you it might just be a shot in the dark but worth a try

you still never answered any questions.....if the remote works....lock then unlock and see if it starts.....try using the key in the driver's side door to lock then unlock door and try to start

edit: whenever i reset everything(by unplugging the bat) it will take a cycle or 2 of this for it to reset

hey thanks for the replies, i havent had time to reply back got caught upm with work but i had them reset the alarm system at my work and its been fine ever since, so dumb how the alarm system can have this much control over the starting of the car..... whatever lol

Actually its a good thing. If someone was trying to steal your car and they were NOOBS that didn't know about push starting then they could start your car. Now you know it works.
