Another common problem known for our cars. My alarm went crazy, its going off randomly. Most of the times it'll just beep once or twice, but sometimes it'll just go off for no reason at all.
yeh i had this problem...set it at a street racing meet and it went off...sounde dlike morse code or some s***..it wasnt a pattern beeping just random and weird.....plus if u look at it the wrong way it beeps to say "stop lookin bia!!" aka beepbeep
You can turn down the sensitivity on your alarm. The sensor is a small black box mounted by your steering column above your feet. There is a little white dial and a red led on it so you know when it is set off. Also the horn is designed to beep randomly when the alarm is set off. The thought was that is sounded like someone in distress and needing help as apposed to a regular beep, beep, beep alarm. Supposed to get more attention???
heh, i had my hood popped open, and my doors locked, and when i dropped the hood (car was in closed garage, engine not on), alarm went crazy, scared the s*** outta me, first time i heard the alarm
Yeah, my MSP has the alarm problem, too. It just starts going off randomly and when anything to loud gets near it (like other cars). I'll try doing the adjusting thing and see if that works for me.
yeah, it's the sensitivety, just play around with it a bit, till you get the proper setting. Nothing wrong with the alarm. And if it's near cars with exhausts, it'll go off like crazy, just because of the atmospheric pressure created by the low exhaust note on some cars. Sam e with trucks and motorcyles. It's kinda crazy at times.
Hey, could you post a pic of where the dial is? I looked under the steering column and found the mazda security black box, but it is all tied to the wires down there. Plz help.
i had my alarm to go up on me the second week I had the car. I could not even start the car. They had to install a new alarm harness which took about a day.
Uh,.. the alarm is suppose to do that. Think of it this way: Our cars like saying 'hi' to ever car that goes by with an open exhaust or if it's just loud. I think the random horn is less annoying than some of those other alarms out there.
Okay, anybody know how to get the alarm out of there?
I went to unlock the car yesterday, and when I hit the unlock button it unlocked like normal but then immediatly relocked. If I open the door before it relocks, then the alarm goes off and I can't turn it off. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it. I need to get the car going again, a tow to the dealer is simply not an option today.
So yeah, I need to remove my alarm and not sure exactly what I need to do.
I had mine out at an AutoX last week and it was saying hi to everything that drove past - the thing that concerns me isn't the sensitivity though, its the fact that I never set the alarm!
Can I get a clue? I was looking around under the steering column this morning, and I'm seeing the same mazda security box... but no white dial. I'm guessing this isn't what I'm looking for....
Well, I am taking the car in today to have a Clifford Matrix alarm installed. I wanted a Compustar, but there are only 2 dealers here in NM and they are both over 100 miles away. Hopefully the Clifford will be just fine.
