Was driving home from work yesterday and some 4-foot long piece of something dropped off a garbage truck as I was looking for an opening to pass it.
Ran under the left front tire and then proceeded to smack both doors and the rear quarter on its way back.

Scratches and dents galore.

$750 estimate to repair.

(pissed)

Just to clarify, it was one of those industrial garbage trucks, not a residential one. And it was on the freeway. No way to get a semi to stop on the freeway.

Around here the garbage trucks are privately-owned, so nothing from the city.
It happened right as I was exiting the freeway, so I didn't even get the name off the side of the truck. (hand)

$h!T! Sorry to hear that Goldwing. My car was just de-virginized too. I just noticed that some b!tch hit my left rear bumper when they tried to park next to me while I was at Kohls. There wasn't any structural damage but they scratched the hell out of the paint. The thing that pissed me off the most; I didn't realize it until after I got home, so I can't find the car now...

(bang) (pissed) (cryhard)

Thanks Speed.

I actually just found some more damage from the incident. Whatever it was hit the front of the car first, put a HUGE scrape on the bumper cover and pushed it out of alignment with the fender. Back to the body shop. Looks like I'll be driving my 5500lb, 10mpg truck for a few days.

dammit to hell...

To make things even more interesting, last night my brother shows up with his car on a tow truck with a blown water pump (that was just changed a couple years ago). The bad pump also roached the timing belt and tensioner pulley... and he doesn't have any money for parts.

Oh Joy!

(bang)

Sorry for ranting.

I'll post some pics of the car later.

ownage. too bad you couldnt get the name of the company! argh.

I could probably take a guess, as there are only a few companies around. I don't know if they would do anything for me, though. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to call and find out.

"You can't fight city hall. Good luck getting the government to pay for anything."

That's not true, i've got a coworker who was hit by a city maintenance vehicle, and he got $2100 for $700 worth of damage.

too bad you didnt get a "hows my driving" #.

I feel your pain. I have dents in my hood from something that fell off a truck on the highway. Nothing major but still... bs.

I was getting off the highway today and this truck pulling a mini open hauler threw bricks out to the side going around the bend. Luckily I was behind him and dropped back after I saw one go flying. I tried to get his attention as I caught up to him but my turn was like 20 seconds off the highway and besides not like I really wanted to get that close.

Was going to work the other day and heard a "tink". I thought it was a rock hitting the windshield as usual here in Vegas, and when I got to work I noticed a dent in the paint over the driver side door. It is about 1/8 inch deep.

This is my first new car ever. What is the point of having a nice car when you live in a construction warzone. I want to cover the car in Nerf so I don't have to worry about anything.

and you think Vegas has bad construction, come here- i swear this year they just close down my side of town- 5/6 roads that lead to my work are closed.

On time, in band camp...

A few years ago I was behind a privately owned and operated truck on the highway that kicked up a rock and chipped my windshield. I asked him to pull over and he did. I told him what happened and he denied it at first but eventually gave me his insurance info and I went and got a new windshield. Moral of the story...get the name of the truck. Call the cops if you have to. HE IS RESPONSIBLE IF IT CAME OFF OR FROM UNDER HIS TRUCK!

GW, Sorry to hear of the de-flowered virgin. Do yourself a favor and try and find out who it was. If you can get them to pay you won't have to and your insurance won't go up.

One final wish I have for you, may you not blow a pile of money in gas this week. The truck is gonna be a change.

Thanks, Tim.
No kidding. I'm trying to decide if it will be more advantageous to put plates and insurance on this Neon I'm fixing or drive the truck. It's a close call.

Since the 3 will only be in the shop for 3 days, the truck should only cost about $30-40 in gas.

We'll see...

And yes, I've got my eye out for that damn truck. (eyeballs)

There is construction on the road towards the parking lot on my way to work. No way around it. The road is HORRIBLE, basically the same as driving offroad on bumpy gravel and dirt. Everytime I go to work my car is covered in dirt. No clue what theyre trying to do here, maybe widen the road...

Took her into the shop this morning. *le sigh*

Luckily, a friend of mine asked me to baby-sit her Explorer while she's in the Bahamas for three weeks, so I don't have to drive my truck to work. (yippy)

So where is all the construction in Vegas these days?
Is the add on in front of Caesar's done yet?

I'll be up visiting the first week of October, and I was planning on bringing the 3.
Should be fun coming up 93.
