.. Mx-6?

So. A friend of mine is lookin' into buyin' his first car .. a 1997 MX-6, the LS version that has the V-6 with a 5-speed manual transmission. He's buyin' it from his neighbor, a lady in her forties who was the first and only owner of the car. She's taken immaculate care of it -- the engine has about 100,000 miles, all maintenance and whatnot has been done as scheduled and as needed. The body is flawless save for one small single scratch (not even MY car can boast that) and the interior is great, too. So I gave him the thumbs up on buyin' it. I only wish I would've had a car like that as my first.

Anyhoo, he was askin' me about good websites and/or communities for buyin' aftermarket products for that car. I was gonna direct him here, to the forums -- but now that I look, I don't even see a section for the MX-6.

So for anyone that owns an MX-6, do you have any suggestions as to where I should point him? He's a good kid and I wanna make sure he gets only the best from trustworthy companies.

Thanks! :)

Google is a great thing to know about.
I tried googling it already -- hence this thread. Nothing significant came up, only sites listing replacement parts for stock body panels and whatnot. I'm not that stupid t'not think of using Google first, kthnx.

.. But yeah, I know there's gotta be somethin' out there for these cars. I know that they aren't widespread anymore or anything resembling popular -- but still, people have them. I even did a search on here and found a few people that own 'em, so I'm hoping that they'll see my post and maybe chime in with some suggestions; or anyone that knows anything, really.

i can and have sold parts for the mx6 and know a fair bit about them if he wants to contact me

I wasn't being a b**** I am just saying usually Google can help you out.
So you googled, congrats on that and sorry you couldn't find what you are looking for.

the Mx-6/626/Probe are pretty much the same car

the best info for owners can be found at these two sites:
www.probetalk.com
www.mx6.com
Some aftermarket sites:
www.probeaddiction.com
www.mbxmotorsports.net
http://www.prdonline.com/catalog/
www.rr-racing.com
www.corksport.com
These should get him a good start. Also I have a friend of mine that goes to PSU. He is from Fla and owns a white Probe GT with blue racing strips wearing RX-7 FD wheels. If you ever run into him you could pick his brain. His name is Mike. Just a thought. Also, the owners of mx6 and probes are very active in Pa.

.. Sweet. Thanks so much, guys!

And I don't think I've ever seen a white Probe like that .. at least, not when I was payin' attention. But you're definitely right about sayin' that they're active in PA. There are Probes EVERYWHERE up here -- it's like some kinda grave overpopulation problem, heh. I'll keep an eye out, tho'.

Oh and the owner of the Probe on front page of the mbx site lives in Pa and owns an Titanium msp also.

I've done a lot with those cars myself... Had one (well a Probe GT, the same thing) for a number of years.

Issues are cylinder #6 suffers from oil starvation in some cases causing the motor to need to be replaced. :) Other than that... There's nothing typical with the 97's I can recall. They're a decent car, have an ok amount of power and are fairly fuel economical.

We (HorsepowerFreaks) has a number of things available for those cars. There is not a huge amount of product, but there's the basic bold ons. The KL_ZE (Japanese engine) is a pretty straight-forward swap. That car being OBD II would be the only issue, but can be address. I've done that swap a number of times myself.... Send him my way if you'd like.

Yeah, I remember that place from back in my Probe days.... errrr, what? (confused)

*you're not Ken's wife, are you?
