Yesterday after coming from school at 11:00pm, I was in my way to my home when on interstate I-4, I saw a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Turbo coming behind me, I was going at 60 MPH, then the Mitsubishi step to the right side and start screaming at me GO GO Lets Race and I say no I cannot race my car is only 11 days old, but the guy in the Mitsubishi continue saying Lets Race so I said ok lets do it, I was in 5th gear at 60MPH so I down shift to 4th gear, in 4th gear I let the RPM get to 6500 at that moment the Mitsubishi was at my side but at the moment I shift 5th gear I left the Mitsubishi behind at that moment I was going at 120MPH.

I don't want to seem like a shithead man but sorry, the MSP isn't really that fast when it comes to stock fast cars. I'm not saying that you are not telling the truth, please don't think that...but perhaps the Mits didn't give you a good go. Later...Brian

Now I don't want to seem like a shithead man but *I'M* sorry, I've owned MANY Eclipses. Even some with turbos. Most were when I was at stock boost, too.

so what are you saying tease, you agree or disagree?

I saw a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Turbo coming behind me

How can you tell the GSX or GST models from just the front on a hwy going 60+ mph? just curious?

Believe all 2gens were turbo (t25), but none of the 3gens are turbo.
So was it a newer Eclipse or the previous body style.
Either way it is a tough car to beat, the 4G63 is a amazing powerplant.

But on the highway a FWD or RWD will have a advantage over AWD.

if its a turbo its the older body style...im just wondering how you tell the difference between, say, a 97 GST (fwd turbo) or GSX (awd turbo) and a 97 RS (base model) going 60 mph in your rear view...not being a dick either, just want to know because i cant tell them apart because even some of the RS come with the higher spoilers found on the GST or GSXs

PS - THIS THREAD BELONGS IN THE DAMN RACING/MOTORSPORTS SECTION, NOT THE DAMN MSP SECTION...

Sorry mean the Spyders were turbos, don't think they came in non-turbo with the spyder.

There were subtle differences most notable by the suspension height, muffler angle and such. But yes it is kinda of hard to tell the difference between a non and a turbo 2gen.

LOL six wheel drive huh :) hehehe

Spyders are NOT turbo'd. They're simply convertibles from my understanding. Friend of mine bought one when they first came out in the new body style. Silver with black top. It was in NO way turbo'd.

Stock GS-T's and GSX's are about as fast as a stock MSP. A friend has a GS-T with 3" Thermal exhaust and an intake. He ran a 14.5 on stock tires. They are claimed at 15.3 -15.4 stock

Spyders are NOT turbo'd.

Yes you can get the GS-t Spyder. 1997 to be exact.

1997 Mitsubishi GS-t Spyder

Ok kewl, been awhile since I've hung around with DSMs. Knew there was some option that wasn't on the car.

Correct, spyder means convertabile.

Yeah I know that Spyders dont come turbo, but this eclipse spyder have a turbo i saw the intercooler and the bov

Spyders 97+ turbo and n/t

GS looks like turbo but isnt (dosent have the silver along the bottom and usaully not the correct rims)

RS have black door handles and look like sh*t

GS-t 95+96 have the "turbine" style wheels along with the silver/grey strip along the bottom of the car and also the twin tip exhaust

GSX Same as the GS-t but all wheel drive

NONE of them came stock with FMIC's (they came with SMIC's)

I know my DSM family pretty well

How can you see the BOV??? its under the hood
