MSP vs 95 Ford Mustang GT AUTO

For MSP owners so they have no fear of what they are racing. I know this is suppose to be in racing but I think this should also be in the MSP category

Well, i don't know if you guys read my post the other day about me racing a G-35 and losing. So I Carlify this i have a 03.5 MSP with INJEN CAI, PROTOSPORT DOWNPIPE AND 3" THERMAL R&D EXHAUST at STOCK LEVEL BOOST. So this is a buddy of mine and we decided to run on the street that has a long straight away. So he has a White Ford Mustang GT (AUTO) with flow master exhaust and cobra wheels. We start at the line and I take off about 1 full car length ahead of him. I keep on pulling on him until the end of 1st which I was about 1 1/2 cars ahead. As I shift into second I get a lot of wheel sping for about 3 rotations again and as soon as my tires grip I was off. So ending 2nd gear I would say I was around 2 - 2 1/2 cars ahead of him. While going into 3rd I couldn't tell if I was pulling away anymore. His Lights in my rear view mirror were not falling back anymore. What do you guys think about this Mustang? Own3d?

Sounds like a kill, but can he drive real well? Also, I don't know much about cobra wheels tell me about those? Those may have weighed him down alot. Obviously a kill is a kill, but I don't know if we can call that typical of all Mustang GT's. V6 right?

No GT is a V8 always.

Except when someone buys a V6 Stang and puts on Cobra bumper, Cobra R Hood, SVO Back Badges, 5.0 Side badges, and leaves the single out V6 exhaust and then calls it a GT, then my friends a GT is a V6. (Don't laugh I see them ALL the time)

Cant be too hard to drive an auto...didn't those year mustangs only have like 215 hp?

yeh good kill, i killed a '02 v6 stang 5spd, had dual exhast so i thou it was a gt until i heard it when he gunned it.... i think a 5spd gt would of been a different story.....

pretty sure he was talkin about the v6 in my story:) i was disappointed when i took off and heard the exhast. when i shut down and he did a ricer flyby i fealt like i wasted my gas

just to clarify....the 95 GT is rated at 225hp. Also, not all gt's are V8's. In the early 80's Ford had a "turbo GT". it was the 2.3L turbo motor. They later tweeked it into the awesome track beast...SVO.

I love the guys who run more or less a stock gt(non99up) with the 18inch cobraR wheels and meaty ass tires too, esp. the one's who try to roll up on everyone.

I'd love to get a hold of the last year of production svo in decent shape.

great kill ProPartsUSA.COM

Now about the Mustang...in those years, the GT was a V8, but what set it apart from the rest of the V8's was the close to 300 lbs/ft of torque it had at low RPM.

I'm actually surprised you took a big lead like that off the block.

Either...good job...keep on killin'

Thanks,
I think it was the Auto that really killed him =)

yeah, the SVO's were pretty badass. and the 2.3 turbo motors are pretty damned tough.

Good call Matty. I had an 84GT turbo for awhile. Very slow, I think our cars could beat them in reverse :D I still have the motor from that car sitting in my garage, along with 5 other turbo 2.3L motors. BTW, there was an 84 SVO along with the 84GT Turbo. The SVO was intercooled, while the GT wasn't.

The 86 SVO was the best 2.3L Turbo Mustang, if I remember correctly, 210hp from the factory. The 87-88 Thunderbird Turbocoupe was pretty fast, for a heavy car. Basically the same motor as the SVO, just in more of a boat. The

While we're on older american turbos, wasn't there a turbo Trans Am at one point?

yeah, the 1989 Pontiac Trans Am, Indy 500 20th Anniversary Pace Car. there were 1555 made, and they had the '87 Buick grand national 3.8L engines in them
