MSP Test Pipe

Deleting the cats makes a huge improvement, as does upgrading to a 2.5" midpipe. You can gut the cats it would be cheaper and easier and would still pass visual inspection.

just did away with my rear cat havent got to the first one yet i feel a small improvment car sounds better to still running stock muffler atm though..
so as long as i put nofoul o2 in i should be ok on A/F right? sorry to jack your thread just didnt see the reason to start another to ask the same basic question hope you dont mind thanks

The stock catback is actually pretty good, not very restrictive and sounds nice without cats or with a high flow cat.

Just a little update: a buddy of mine that owns a shop will be welding me up a j pipe and a midpipe for around $100, should be done in 2 weeks-ish

how do you go about deleting them? just smash em out with a peice of pipe and a hammer? i had planned to repalce the whole exhaust very soon but looking like it wont happen until the new year now. i dont like the eggy smell. also, i remember reading the msp doesnt use the second o2 for tuning purpose?
it would throw a code but would it run ok if i had to leave it like that for a month or two?

Yeah most people just smash the cats out, looks factory and for the second O2 you can do the non fouler trick to avoid a CEL.

are non foulers just universal screw in bits?
I was thinking of pounding them out and slipping a pipe in where they would be, using exhaust clamps to hold in place. would that work? everywhere i read about gutting them says not to cause it creates a cavity. which makes sense.
then again. the piping on the stock exhaust seems quite a bit beefier than the cheap stuff you find with the exhaust clamps ha.
