MSP Problem Not Resolved Yet!

OK...now I am pissed. I seems to me that they rushed my car through the port and didn't replace the hose that needed to be replaced. I found out the the water return hose for the turbo has ruptured and that it needs to be replace. Guess what? It is back ordered and Mazda doesn't know when it will get here. How can the frickin' manufacturer not know when a part will be made? Then who does know.....God, himself? The parts that are needing to be replaced are the water return hose (0000-88-C54) and the clamp for this hose (0000-88-C55). I have Edwin at Mazda Customer Service checking to find out when it will be shipped. I can guarantee you that he will call me on Monday......let me rephrase that....when I call him late on Monday, he will not have an answer for me. Now I am driving this POS Dodge Intrepid and hate it.

I have a friend who just purchased a WRX wagon. I know he is going to give me crap about this because so far he has had not one problem with his car. I guess you can tell I am not happy. I think I need to drink this weekend.

If it is a vacuum hose or something cant you use a aftermarket hose? And clamp? See if your dealer would let you do that.

See it is this type of thing that is pissing me off about Mazda and especially when people make comments supporting that they not take responsibility for it. Sorry for ranting but. I mean come on you are suggesting for a guy that has just gotten his brand new $20K car that he has been waiting on and it has full warranty and can't have more than 1000 miles on it and it's busted and they don't have a clue as to fixing it. I guess I am the only one that is willing to stand up for myself and not get taken to the cleaners by these dealers and Mazda. I would be pissed as hell if I was you. Wait I am in a similar situation with my P5, 5 months old and all kinds of problems and nobody at mazda can tell me anything. Oh well once again sorry for the rant and I feel for you man. But hey you can use mine and my roommates favorite expression "IT'S A RENTAL" Go find some railroad tracks and recreate a little dukes of hazard action. At least do some burnouts or j turns. Basically sux your stuck with it but make the best of it , and it could always be worse they could have stuck in you in like an aspire or something

I hope it doesn't take as long to fix as the clunk......or will be driving that dodge for quite some time.

Mazda is pathetic for s*** like this. Makes me question my sanity for wanting another one.

MSP Problem

If you had it to do over, would you pass on buying the MSP because of this problem?

Water return hose for the turbo: the bearings in the turbo are water cooled and this is the return hose from the turbo back to the block. Of course the hoses are back ordered: they are all going to the ports so they can install the turbos on our MSP Proteges before they deliver them! See if the dealer can put in a temporary hose with aftermarket heater core hose and a couple of gates clamps. At least you could drive it while you wait on the real part.

AND I'd take back the Dodge and insist on a Mazda to drive as my free warranty loaner car: a Miata or a new 6 would be nice!

hell YES.......

and im not sure how this is going to work....i dont know if your dealer would really want to get you your car back or if they dont care, or if they have to shell out any coin to fix this prob or if they dont pay either way.....and i dont even know if its those big tubes that are the problem, but you might be able to take advantage of this scenario and have some nice chrome/aluminum piping made for your engine to replace the black plastic. If it will fix your problem then maybe the dealership will foot part of the bill at least, and you can have the first prettied up msp engine bay :)

does your dealer, or anyone else, know whether or not this problem that you have is indeed positively the problem whose fixing delayed the release of the msp? if so was yours fixed and does this mean the fix isnt really a fix? or was yours not fixed and are these msps that have been shipped in the past month been defective? Is there a way all of the msp owners can check to see if their car has had the fix or not? also, i thought the turbo was oil cooled?

lots of questions! discuss amongst yourselves.........:)

Ok, the turbo is water cooled to keep the bearings alive and the bearings are oil lubricated with engine oil. No mixing, separate systems. Remember, the hot exhaust gases are driving one of the turbines on a shaft and the other end of that shaft has the compressor turbine for the intake air. The shaft is supported on both ends with oil lubricated bearings. Then, the middle of the housing has coolant flowing through it to take away the heat and put it out the radiator.

My understanding is that the coolant hose from the turbo back to the block either came off or leaked coolant onto the ground. No Big Deal. It's just a faulty coolant hose or poor installation job at the port, where they installed the turbo. So everyone can relax! Nothing's wrong with the basic design of the MSP.
