MSP lights on P5

the sedan's headlight wiring is ground switched... which means 1 common power source, and 2 grounds which the control stalk controls

the P5's LOW beam wiring is power switched, and the HIGH beam wiring is ground switched... this makes it so that when you turn on the high beams, both low and high beams are on... you MUST undo this when you rewire it for the sedan's single bulb setup, otherwise you will burn up the bulb!

Thanks Edwin, I was just starting to suspect as much. I took a multimeter out to the wife's car to try to figure it out. I got a reply from a guy on another group that was basically a how-to on how to convert the wiring without swapping harnesses. It's long and complicated, as soon as I decipher it and make sure it works, I'll post it here for anybody who cares to know.

I am going to put the P5 headlights on the msp. Look much better imo and I have been in both and the sedan headlights don't look like they perform better. But ofcourse I really don't drive in bad weather.

"E"roupean "D"omestic "M"arket - like JDM, but europe

oh, and i used this wiring diagram tog et the protege5 lights on my sedan - the only thing i don't like is that all my lights "dazzle" when i go to "flash-to-pass"

I know what EDM means, but what I meant was what is different about them from the USDM lights?

the sedan EDM lights are the same as the USDM sedan lights - the protege5 EDM lights have a city light socket and a better beam pattern than the USDM protege5 lights

oh, by the way, i have my stock ES headlights for sale in the "For Sale" section

so, anyone that has done the protege5 -> sedan light conversion, can i get you to take a picture of your wiring harness? i'm creating a conversion harness for another forum member, and i realized i don't know which wire on the harness side goes where... help?

if it doesn't matter on the high beam side, i don't care about that one. but, which side of the cnnector for the low beam is the ground, and which is the power?

if you can't get a picture, can you label my (crappy) diagram? if the attached picture represents the harness plug, which side is positive, and which side is ground?
