Kewl, I just didn't know how much you knew about all of these things...KyRaceFan said:Compression and octane arent the only factors in detonation.. Charge temps, plug heat range, and air fuel ratios also determine if your engine detonates.
Youve got awesome info, but thats only one piece of the puzzle.
I'd like to build the bottom end, would be great to have that peace of mind knowing my rods and pistons are strong, and wont snap... but the stock motor is strong enough for 15psi with plenty of fuel, good plugs, and low charge temps.I dont think detonation would be a real concern. Plus, if i did HEAR knock, id turn the boost down, and go for a better tune.
It's hard to think that a car that has such major shortcomings, Flash, Fuel CUt etc, would have a knock sensor. The Evo has a very active knock sensor. I'm affraid that this car falls short of the R&D that went into some other cars...KyRaceFan said:Side note.. why didnt the MSP come with a knock sensor that pulls timing... another shortcut in devolopment.?
Ha Ha Har!!! But you are correct!KyRaceFan said:Just another reason to trade for an srt4. :x
Resist the urge to spray. I have thought of it but, I am affraid of the Noz!! (thought)KyRaceFan said:The srt4 guys around here are running mid 7s with less than 1000 in mods... injectors, mopar BOV, nx wet kit with 100 shot and slicks.
My car is almost as fast as they are off spray, but not quite... so now im just itching to spray a 50 shot... :x
as brian touched on: the FS-DE has a knock sensor that pulls timing but its very passive. it won't start to pull timing as soon as it sees knock. the J&S would be a good investment if you plan to run nitrous.KyRaceFan said:Side note.. why didnt the MSP come with a knock sensor that pulls timing... another shortcut in devolopment.?
