msp clearance under dash

Does anyone know how much clearance there is under the center of the dash? I want to do a dash gauge pod, the problem is the gauges make contact with the dash before the pod. My plan is to cut a square out under the pod in order for the pod to be able to sit on the dash without the gauges in the way. The gauges need about 1 or 2 inches to partially tuck under the dash

I put my 3 gauges under my radio. There was plenty of room. I used a custom cut piece of carbon as a shroud.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am not talking about a radio bezel setup. What I am talking about is a pod on top of the dash, above the heater vents on the center bezel

Dont STI your Mazda..

It's not going to look goo plus, you will have to Eff your dash up to install it..

Should be enough room still. You'll probably have to run all the wires behind the radio so you'll use the same area that I am except for the gauge mount

I'm sorry but a pillar pods are horrid in my opinion. That's why I put mine under my radio

I will post a pic of it mocked up.. IMO it looks great! I hate A pillar pods too I want a Sti style dash pod! The glowshift single din looks crappy and I like having a 2din pod

This is why I need to cut a hole.. As you can see the back of the pod is lifted up with the gauges on it because the gauges are what's sitting on the dash rather than the pod.. In theory the hole will allow the gauges to slightly tuck under the dash so that the pod can tilt back and sit flush on the dash

sorry to threadjack but how do you like those prosport gauges? ive heard mixed things. i looking to pick up an electronic boost and oil pressure gauge...

there is all kinds of room under the dash.. but why cut it apart to make something fit that stands out just as much as the "A" gauges..

I have mine above my double din.
