MSM or sc/TC NB...?

I'm so confused. So the wife finally said "Why don't you go buy your car?" I am trying to decide between a F/I NB (like a 10AE or an 01 or newer 6 speed with a SC or TC) or a MSM. I drove two MSM's today and I like them a lot, but I am not sure if I would be better off buying something that is already modified a bit. My buddy has an NA that we have done a crap load of suspension/chassis/turbo work to, and it is awesome, but I like the appearance of the newer body style better. And I drove a NC today too. I definately like the NB better.

A dealer near me has a red 04 MSM with 12k. The sticker is $22,900 but I could probably get it for about $18k. It has been on their lot for more than 2 months. I am just not sure... I could get an older one for ~$12k, but then add suspension + turbo + all the other goodies, and it is close, if not more expensive than, the MSM...

What to do...

This is very true. My problem would be keeping myself from going over the entire flyin miata catalog though, and that is hard on the warranty...

I think my biggest problem is I have never driven a supercharged NB, and I would love to know how the continous power feels...

I bought my 04 MSM for $21,000 out the door....all taxes & fees included, WITH gap insurance as well. This was BRAND NEW. THREE MILES on the odometer. The price before taxes, fees, and gap insurance was a hair under $19,000.

Something to think about.

Cool. Yeah, we didn't get down to negotiating, but they are a GMC dealer and they want it out of there. Like I said, it has been there like 2 months. I may go back tomorrow and see what we can do.

I haven't been on the site in a while. You used to own a Protege right? MP3 or MSP or something? How does the MSM compare? I loved my P5, but I want some RWD.

Thaey are asking way too much. This is the worst time of year to buy, because everyone is jacking up prices for spring/summer...

But it all depends on what you want to do in the end. To me, it sounds like you're better off getting a NB, then modifying it the way you want.

Buy a 2000 miata and put in a MSM motor w/ fm upgrades. That put mine at just over 24000 with 2K on the motor.

In any case a MSM would out perform any scion/ Z3/ Sky/Solstice

Get a base NC. Power is the same as MSM, with constant pull through the powerband. 2007 models are coming in soon and if you can find an 06' you should get a great deal for 20k. All it needs as far is mods is spring and swaybar upgrades..and your set.

I have driven a few miata's, but the only boosted one I drove was Jersey_EMT's MSM. I think that was the most fun of them all, but if I wanted a car for myself I think the NC fits me much better (but you said you dont want one). I am 6'2" and cant pass my hands between my legs and the wheel on an NA/NB.

That being said, I love the NB's the most as far as looks and fun go. Ti Gray (yeah, I am biased) with black/red interior and that uber-sexy crinkle coat VC...how can you go wrong man??

I vote the msm. My sis has one and when you get some light 15" wheels and springs...the car really starts to move. With all the stuff you get with the msm, its a bargain...and you don't have to worry about trying to run naturally aspirated fuel maps on a FI car.

Unless you have stand alone engine management lying arround, then the msm is the better buy.
