MS3 versus MS6

yep. He had an upgraded turbo boosting 22psi plus bolt ons, etc etc...a 12 second car for sure. Best of luck for him. Hope he gets it fixed.

What was he putting down for power and A/F? We share the same motor so what ever happened to his (and every other motor known to man) could potentially happen to ours under the same circumstances.

well he was a guinea pig for a CP-E, so he was testing a few things for the company. He has the EMS and a few other stuff that hasnt being released yet. I dont think you have to worry much about that happening to you, he blew his engine block boosting 30psi!!

Well yesterday I was going to drop my car off at my friend/fabricators house to do various work pre-NOPI show including meth injection etc. Like an idiot I was driving around with the cutout open but I'd been modulating boost with my throttle. NOT SMART. I came up to a light (1 block from my friends house) and there was a motorcycle, the light turns green, I drop the hammer in 1st and BOOM, smoke, oil light comes on etc. Looked at boost gauge - 30 PSI.
There's chunks of motor all over the cool drip pan.
I've gotten a price from $2728 so far + tax and shipping. I've got room on some cards and some cash, haven't told the wifey yet so depending on how much trouble I'm in I may have to sell the turbo kit, custom IC, etc. I already have an XEDE for sale.
Depending on timeline I should have a new motor (shortblock) installed within 2 weeks.

Wish me luck and let me know if you can get me a super duper deal on a short block, I'll buy one this Friday.
A salvage complete motor will work for that price too, if you can find one!!!
Mike

Best of luck to him...

Guy is TOTALLY responsible for destroying his engine and you guys feel sorry for him? Give me a break!(pissed)
And, if he was a "testing stuff for CP-E", why don't they replace the engine?

That came off really harsh, not needed. And last time I was the gunie pig for something I was told by the people using my car, "Hey, this is the point this motor has been tested to, if you want to take it further we will but if it blows not our fault."

Hope he gets it taken care of soon, best of luck.

well, he IS offering HIS car to help the developers tune their products to work right on YOURS. So I think you should cut him some slack.

He knew what he was doing and understood the risk inherent in it. What would you like people to say???? Bottom line is he had more done to that car than most of the people on this board are going to attempt over the next few years, if ever. That and by testing all these parts he's helping the aftermarket come to us sooner rather than later. They can't make parts if they don't have a car to fab stuff with.

That said, I'm kinda shocked at how cheap a replacement motor is if thats the cost of a long block. I guess thats a benefit of having it used in multiple vehicles. Pay to play.
