I douht da sam ting.........(shrug)

I was interested in the Cobb tuning accessport 2.0 thing, but I think I will just strap on the Mazdaspeed CAI and be done with it.
My guess is that the increased air will help even out the A/F from being so damn rich...add more air, hopefully with the WOT Richness, it will add the air but no more fuel and it will be where it should be...

i forget where i heard it but for 2g's u get cai , exhaust, coil over suspension. i think thats it i wil try to find it and post

Also think about an exhaust system.

I really don't want the car any louder, and if you look underneathe, the exhaust is actually pretty beefy for a stock car.

I am not looking to gain enormouse HP, just maybe to lean it out a little to get rid of the crazy rich soot coming from the exhaust pipe.

I like the CAI sound too.

I like a sleeper car...if I want to go really fast, and want people to know I will just get on my ninja. That bike can do 0-60 in the mid-3's and do the quarter mile in less than 11 secs...with only 636cc's!

The HP/lb ratio on a bike makes upgrading cars seems very moot. You have to get atleast 15-30hp to even feel it in a car...while on a bike just adding like 2-3hp can make a big difference...

Mazdaspeed CAI and exhaust system add 30 hp to crank. The actual hp to the wheels is about 22 hp. Which is what they claim. I am going to try to find the link that I read it on and post it for you all. The best thing about the upgrade is it does not void the warranty. For around $1500 you can buy it and have it installed by the dealer. The suspension upgrade is about $800 for the parts and installation is very expensive. I would not invest in the suspension because the stock one for the car is pretty good already.

Try $2300 just for the parts. $800+ for the CAI and $1500+ for the exhaust. I don't know about the install. No, thanks.

Those are crazy prices. Maybe I can get a better deal and then maybe this is something I would buy...

I'm not crazy, Mazda is. Check your part nos. $335/$375 are the prices for the MS-CAI for the regular 3&6/MS6. For the MS3, one dealer quoted the following to a guy who actually ordered them:

CAI # GRMS-8M-L29 appx $800.00
Exh. # GRMS-8M-L26 appx $1500.00.

He says he called Mazda directly and confirmed those MSRPs. Another guy was quoted $819 for the CAI. The purported advantage of the MS-CAI is a special design that will prevent a "too lean" CEL from lighting up.

You think if they are having a problem with the CEL and a CAI, it would be cheaper for them to flash the car to be calibrated for a CAI. Instead of making a +100% increase in the price to solve the problem.

Why would they price the exhaust at $1500 for a ~22k car? People are buying the car because of the value. Nissan charges $1200 retail for the NISMO 350Z exhaust. That car is targeted at a market that on average will spend more money in accesories per buyer than the average MS3 buyer will.

It makes no marketing sense. Their volume will be so low at that price, that I can't believe that they would even think of developing products that would need to be priced that high to cover costs.

It would just make more sense, for them to sell those items at 1/2 the price stated. They would still be at a premium compared to aftermarket stuff, but atleast they would have a fighting chance to have some volume in sales. At those prices, I don't see anything more than "maybe" a handful of people buying those parts.

I will buy just about any part mazda puts out that will remain under warranty no matter what the price is. but i'm sure most people arent like me.

I just did some research.
These parts are expensive and I understand they MAY come down in price when they actually "come out". They are tech not out yet. Even my price was pretty high.

Absolutely out of their minds. But you never know. ^^^^^^ There's a great line in Dr. Seuss' The Lorax:

The Lorax said, "Sir! You are crazy with greed. There is no one on earth who would buy that fool Thneed!"

But the very next minute I proved he was wrong. For, just at that minute, a chap came along, and he thought that the Thneed I had knitted was great. He happily bought it for three ninety-eight.

I laughed at the Lorax, "You poor stupid guy! You never can tell what some people will buy."

There's a lot of good stuff in the books you read to get your kids to sleep.(yes)

I am actually embarrassed (sp) to say...I will be getting a call back on Tuesday with more information. My parts guy is going to call Mazda and get more info.

I think I would pay that extra to go with a Mazda approved part. I would of course install it though...
